Two RNC attendees removed for taunting black camerawoman

By Justin Sink - 08/29/12 08:46 AM ET

Two attendees were removed from the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night after throwing nuts at an African-American camera operator for cable network CNN and taunting, "This is how we feed animals."

CNN confirmed the incident in a statement Wednesday morning.

"CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon," the statement read. "CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”

It is not yet clear what role the individuals who were removed played at the convention, although organizers did confirm their ejection in a statement.

“Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior," said convention spokesman Kyle Downey. "Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated."

Republicans had hoped that elements of their Tuesday program — including an emphasis on the economy and a prominent speaking role for former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis (Ala.), an African-American — could help boost support among blacks.

Wonder where these "intellectual Bubba delegates" were from... From past history-my first guess would be Alabama...Second would be Oklahoma or Texas ....

At least the Republicans took action against their own for "deplorable behavior." The Democrats have a history of condoning and encouraging the ding-a-ling wackos from their party.

WELCOME TO THE 2012 NATIONAL CONVENTION, THE TRUTH REVEALED

GOP's ugly side revealed itself during the RNC Tuesday night, as an attendee in Tampa, Florida threw nuts at a black camerawoman working for CNN, taunting, "This is how we feed animals" before she was removed from the convention.

HIGHLIGHTS

The incident happened on Tuesday night Aug. 28, 2012 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum where GOP delegates officially nominated Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate to face President Barack Obama in the Nov. 6 election. examiner.com

It goes without saying that neither the RNC nor the convention organizers are responsible for every delegate and attendee. But the incident does not reflect well on a party that has extremely little support from the African-American population. Politico

A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found that 94 percent of African-Americans surveyed supported President Barack Obama, versus 0 percent - yes, 0 percent - who supported Mitt Romney. Politico

Convention security and police removed the two from the convention center shortly after the incident. BBC

In a statement, convention officials said the attendees had "exhibited deplorable behavior." BBC

"Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated." BBC

The identities of the two ejected was unclear. News broadcaster CNN confirmed the incident but had no additional comment. BBC

sadly, this is how we have come to expect the majority of republicans to act. if it would have been mike (mr. anonymous), he would have been looking for a tree branch, and dressed out in all whites with his hood on.

I agree Soap- it was commendable that the convention leadership took care of the problem..

BUT as is demonstrated way too often on this forum- this type of "Bubba" arrogant bigot attitude has became the norm rather than the exception of the following of the Republican party... :(
And their new stereotype....

I am a little skeptical of this. Maybe it's true but it could be a plant like the gal that burnt her house down and blamed it on the conservative. Remeber all the planting they tried at Tea Parties.

CNN?

And her I was made to believe that only Fox was biased towards the Republican party.

CNN is a "Democrat" station, that now is "racist" also.

This is not surprising

Well if history is any guide if it had been the Democrat Convention Obama would have been talking about civility and then hunting the goons down and convincing them to donate a million dollars to his Super Pac, So he could afford another lieing attack ad about how the Republicans are waging a WAR ON WOMEN.

BTW Oldtimer the only one I see tossing insults and nasty name calling towards women on this site IS YOU. And you do it everytime we catch you in yet ANOTHER LIE.

Does no one feel the code pink gals stepped over the line. We have parents who try to involve their kids in the process so they will take an interest in this country. Parents going out of their way explaining to their kids the political process and then find themselves interupted by costumes from code pink. And then in the learning process they must take a detour and explain code pinks costume.

Come on lefties have the guts to condemn this

Liberals like OT will always side with the Domestic terrorists.

They want their "freebies" whatever way they can get em.

Why did OT place his farm on a reservation?

"freebies", that's why. OT has been sucking off the taxpayer teat, since he was young. His parents did it and he does too.

Parasites, the lot of them.

when he doesn't get his way, he accuses somebody of "harming him". He is the defintion.

He's always a victim, of his own "hard done by" self.

Same o lies and slander to attack the messenger and change the subject-- but either you all are a bunch of bigots or a bunch of spineless cowards that you will not stand up and denounce those type of childish racist actions that are giving your party a very nasty stereotype...

No one has condoned these peoples actions. Quite the contrary. The question I have now is though, who are they. Are they a plant or infiltrator like the left has done on numerous occasions. Still waiting to find out.

But speaking of bad and disrepectful actions, we have code pink. Their actions and costume are over the top. You have MSNBC cutting away from coverage when minorities speak at the Convention. But either you lefties are a bunch of bigots or a bunch of spineless cowards that you will not stand up and denounce those type of childish racist actions that are giving your party a very nasty stereotype...

Do they allow anyone off the street to walk into the convention... I was under the impression you needed credentials approved by the party and ID's... If these are plants- why isn't the Repubs identifying them? Why isn't the convention people identifying them anyway?

As far as Code Pink- I did not see their demonstration, but can imagine...They weren't part of the convention were they? Just 100's of the other organizations in town putting on their dog and pony show...And just like with PETA and some other organizations- I don't agree with many of their methods- but will fight to the death to protect their right to demonstrate and have free speech...
But you do have to admit- just like with PETA's naked women dressed in lettuce- their outlandish way of demonstrating gets them attention- and gets the tv cameras on them so you know they are there...

Code pink was in the Convention center and come on now it is possible to get a pass to get in as a spectator. After all code pink did so others could also.

When you had the left with the master plan of infiltrating the Tea Party to make them look bad, what makes you think the left would stop there.

Care to condemn msnbc for their racist actions. I am sure it was an oversight on your part.

If you never watch MSNBC, how could you possibly "have never seen them do" any racist or non-racist actions?

Are you really as stupid as you seem?
