Let me be sure I understand this...

After President Obama "fulfills his pledge to withdraw combat troops" from Iraq...there could be as many as 50,000 troops left that are involved in...combat? :???:

Have I got that right? That just doesn't make much sense to me, but I admit that I could be guilty of trying to use common sense or logic to figure it out.

Maybe one of you Obamaniacs that are fluent in Obamaspin can interpret that for the rest of us who aren't quite as smart as you are.

After pullout some U.S. forces still in combat

50,000 troops expected to remain for cleanup and protection operations

updated 3:13 a.m. CT, Thurs., Feb. 26, 2009

WASHINGTON - Some of the U.S. forces likely to remain in Iraq after President Barack Obama fulfills his pledge to withdraw combat troops would still have a combat role fighting suspected terrorists, the Pentagon said Wednesday.

Obama could announce his withdrawal strategy as early as Friday. He will travel that day to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the White House announced Wednesday.

While there Obama is expected to outline a compromise withdrawal plan that leaves behind as many as 50,000 troops for cleanup and protection operations.

Although most of the fighting forces would be withdrawn in the next 18 months, some of those units could be in Iraq for years to come. An agreement forged by the Bush administration with Iraqi officials requires removal of all U.S. forces by 2012...

All I see is a smokescreen to make it look like he was meeting a campaign promise.

The more this guy says and does, the more I question the motives.

Course it's easy to dupe the Sheep.......................

sounds like you understand it well...

basically the McCain policy.... stay around till we are not needed just like in Japan.. Germany,,, ect.. or at least until 2012...

and the surge that didn't work in Iraq... well we will see if it can fail in Afganistan if we slash the troops requested by about 13,000
