How long ago was Katrina? Make that about three and one-half years since that nasty little blow to New Orleans.

Some of you in New Orleans may wonder what happened to my show. I'm not on the air there any more. It seems that the owner of the radio station that carried my show didn't appreciate the things I had to say about New Orleans residents after Katrina. No problem .. it's his station. Has happened before - will happen again.

What was it I said about New Orleans? Prolly something it about being a city infested with parasites ... human parasites. Odd, isn't it, that two million could get on the National Mall for Barack Obama's inauguration without any public transportation, but 80,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans with four days warning and busses and trains running.

Anyway .. heard a startling report Monday.

Three and one-half years after Katrina there are still 17,000 former New Orleans parasites living in hotels and motels. They've been there for 42 months .. and just can't seem to find a way to get out and get their own housing. Not only that, but there are still another 8,000 people living in temporary housing who can't claw their way out as well. How would YOU define these people? Sterling citizens? Worthy Americans? No ... they're human parasites. They are the people who made New Orleans the most welfare-dependent people in this country .. the people who brought New Orleans its sky-high crime rates ... and now Obama has given these people another 60-day extension in their hotels, motels and temporary housing.

Change you can believe in?

Maybe about 500 of them camping in the rose garden or watermelon patch or whatever it's called now would show him what "we" are dealing with.

They should have gone out and bought houses, they couldn't afford!

Haven't seen any money in the stimulus to rebuild New Orleans, but there will be 75 Billion, if you can't afford your mortgage.

Mind you they wouldn't have anybody to turn down their bed every night!

New Orleans is alive and back to normal. The dealers are dealing, the prostitutes are working, the criminals are killing, raping and stealing....all go back to their motel rooms when the sun is about to come up. They don't give a damn about rebuilding the levee system. it would ruin any chances to use the system next time.

Feb 24, 2009 What should be an all out celebration has turned violent as police say several people have been shot today along the Mardi Gras parade route in New Orleans. The Mardi Gras shooting left six people injured.

Today is Fat Tuesday, a day known for gluttony as it marks the end of the Mardi Gras celebration before the Lenten season begins. Police have recovered the weapon used in the Mardi Gras shooting and have arrested two suspects.

Bob Young, New Orleans police spokesman, says the 'Rex' parade had just passed by a group of revelers when shots were heard around 1:40pm CST.

Shots erupted during a truck float parade that followed. One victim was shot in the stomach and is in serious condition according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper.

Medics rushed each of the victims to the Trauma Center at University Hospital in New Orleans. Two men aged 20 were the most seriously injured. Those two Mardi Gras parade shooting victims are in guarded condition according to the New Orleans EMS.

The other victims are in stable condition including a 1-year-old baby boy with a graze wound in the back; a 17-year-old girl was shot in the thigh, while a 50-year-old woman was shot in the elbow and a 30-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the thigh. Each of the victims appeared to be innocent bystanders according to Deputy Chief of police Kirk Bouyelas.

"The important thing to note is that the officers were here at the scene and quick to respond," he said.

Mardi Gras is New Orleans' pre-Lenten celebration that attempts to rival Brazil's Carnival. Family picnics on the parade route are a common staple, along with plenty of X-rated sights on Bourbon Street.
