Northern Rancher said:I'm not a big fan of 'deer in the truck' pics -I like to see the country they were got in and such but those are nice bucks-I really like the long G2's on that whitetail-I'm trying to get Ty to take up taxidermy so it would quit costing us a fortune lol. What kind of rifle is the kid shooting. Does it have a muzzle brake on it. Looks like mulies in your country get wider than ours but not as high on the average. My buddy got an absolute hog last week a 235 inch with 35 inch spread and junk everywhere. I never did get far off the pavement when I was down in your neck of the woods but it looks alot like the sandhills country I hunt south of me in Saskatchewan.I'm soo used to having to wear blaze orange from head to toe I'd be scared s....less to go out without it now. If you don't move it doesn't seem to bother deer at all-I had a big old whitetail buck come out on a trail only about 30 yards from me last night-he didn't even notice me-must of been preoccupied-with what I wonder.
Funny thing is a 22-250 isn't a legal calibre to hunt deer with in Saskatchewan-it's .243 and up for here. That buck tonight Sara shot really piled up-I've never seen a bullet open up so much on impact and still pump through It was one of those new Fusion bullets from Federal.
Sandy said:.222 is the smallest calibre you can hunt deer with in Manitoba. And you must wear blaze orange, tis the law. 22-250 is a nice little gun but I prefer my 30-06, if you hit something it's not going to run away on you. Of course the most popular gun for deer in these parts is a .22 magnum, the number one choice of nite lighters in these parts.
