Landowners who don't care for the liberal rules of the Walk-In Area hunting program now have another option.
The Game, Fish & Parks Department's new Controlled Hunter Access Program pays owners based on the number of hunters who sign up to use their land.
GF&P regional program manager Denny Mann says the new program gives landowners more control of who's on their land.
Property owners would be paid $6 for each day a hunter uses their land for hunting. Landowners can make up to $10 per hunter per day if they allow hunters to hunt all species for the entire season.
Property owners who have 1,000 or more acres will get a flat base payment of $250 in addition to the per hunter fees.
