Best friend told us last night that one of the cows he bought from us two falls ago gave birth to triplets. She is 15, and was to be retired this fall. But retirement will come earlier for her as none of the calves lived. They were premature, each one weighed no more than 30 pounds. She obviously wanted to out do her mother who we kept till she came back open at 18 years of age, and who in her lifetime, gave us 24 calves. I have never seen a set of triplets, kind of exciting, in a way, knowing that it was one of our cows who did it.

Long ago we had an old milk cow that had triplets.

The runt of the 3 was my first bottle calf....but they all 3 lived and grew up good as I remember.
