The New York Times ran an article linking McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis, to a group lobbying Freddie & Fannie? The campaign was irate. He never lobbied for Freddie & Fannie. Yes, he was paid $30,000 a month for five years to head a group that lobbied Freddie & Fannie, but he, personally, never, ever lobbied for Freddie & Fannie. How disgusting that the Times would print such a story!
And they’re backed up today by a former spokesperson for Freddie & Fannie. He says Davis “didn’t really do anything". So there, media. Get your stories straight. Rick Davis wasn’t paid $2 million to lobby. He was paid because he could provide access to a setting US Senator, John McCain!
