Sam's Club? That's the same as Wal-Mart and their beef is notoriously
bad. You must have been gone from good beef too long, or you just
got lucky! :D

The buddy with whom I'm staying here in the states swears by the meat at Sam's Club (and he takes his eating seriously) and I gotta admit, it was a wonderful steak.....big, juicy, tender, and delicious. Three big steaks for $20.00.

But yes, I have been goon too long from good beef. :(

Maybe Sam's Club is different. I know you can get good meat from
Costco.

Walmart tried telling the beef industry what they wanted and what
they would pay, so they are stuck buying the worst out there. They
couldn't push cattlemen/women around like some of their other suppliers.

Amyhow, glad you had a good eating experience. That's what steak
is all about!!!

Glad it was good! Whenever I go to a restaurant for steak I always carefully ask the server "you don't sever Angus here do you?" with a hopeful look on my face. If it turns out that's what they have I put a disappointed look on my face and say "well, I guess that will have to do". I guess I just like being difficult :D

I'd be disappointed too if the serves said they sold Angus beef. If we're talking about Cetified Angus Beef brand, then we're onto something. They stick the word Angus on a lot of beef. I need something that has some quality specifications.

Got to remember he isn't buying in a U. S. Store where "cheap" is the motto.

True Sams and WMart are owned by the same folks but Sams does have much better meat than WalMart. Buy one of their whole tenderloins sometimes...pretty darn good.

FH, Sams' Club seems the place to go for better meats in Rapid City.

But i'm pretty sure SafeWay Ranchers Rennaisance beef would be very good, too.

And there is a new local meat market on Sheridan Lake Road, near Catron Blvd. that I've read about. I plan to try something from them soon.

We don't buy much beef, but ran pretty low lately and nothing to 'sacrifice' for home use for a while yet. Will buy some from a friend in a few weeks, when it's ready. Pretty hard to get a locker plant date in this area, with at least four of them within 90 miles of home. And few will hang the carcass for more than a few days.
