Hi Peg,
North America is a huge hot bed for anorexia and bulimia. Brazil is catching up to us. Girls living on campus seem to get hit the hardest and here in Vancouver the highest number of cases come of the Christian campuses! Trinity Western is a hotbed. It is very fortunate that I am a Christian as the secular counsellors have a really tough time with the young ladies and can be horribly mean. Saying things like why not just pray about it? Abviously there is no God if you are like this. I have heard these things from "professionals" many times. They are however very careful NOT to utter such things to a patient in front of me. I will call a person out "REALLY LOUDLY" in front of anyone an everyone. These girls have enough negativity in their lives they do not need it in the hospitals. Some of the nurses can be really heartless as well ( no offense to anyone on the board) One the other day said to a girl "man, I wish I could catch what you got" My mouth just about hit the floor! Itis humiliating enough to go to the bathroom without a door on, comments like that really don't help :( This is a severe mnetal illness and has absolutely nothing to do with food. Yet in BC, a patient can check themselves out any ole time. Sooooo Frustrating!
