what a morning. was supposed to drop a load of bulls in chinook this am and come back and meet banker this afternoon to start the year. got chores done and the bulls loaded and about 12 miles down the road and the transmission goes out of my pickup (it has almost 300k miles on it). so i start walking home and luckily a neighbor is hauling grain and gives me a lift. a few days ago my youngest brother comes home and takes my other pickup to move himself from bozeman to great falls so i have no way of getting my pickup and load of bulls home. but i do have a three point hitch i built to tow a trailer so i go to start the tractor and wouldn't you know the timer had shorted out and tractor won't start. so at this point i was flustered and a little thirsty so i thought i would cruize down to the fuel station and get a drink while the tractor warmed up. got my drink and my nerves calmed down and headed home when my cell phone rings with some fella from ID asking about cattle. we were jabbering and i look ahead to see a car spinning down the highway in my lane on a corner right by our turn off so i hit the ditch and burry the rig up to the windows, it takes me a good 15 minutes to even get out of the vehicle and I end up walking 2 miles home talking to myself the whole way. tractor still isn't quite warm enough to start so i thought i'd vent. a load of bulls stranded on the highway, a vehicle burried in the ditch, a bank appointment, need a new transmission, and a fella has to wait for his bulls (i don't think he will mind)

You got no where to go but up.

that is funny - i've been telling myself that for as long as i can remember.

today was one of those days i should have just stayed in bed til noon.... would have got more done. altho i did get feeding done earlier this afternoon and i didn't have to break ice on the water for the cows today - so that was a plus. for the last 10 days atleast every waterer on the place freezes over at night - just not enough juice to keep them from icing.

About how this whole winter has been going...Just one thing after another... Had a load of heifers to bring back from Big Timber- but when we were ready- the ranch we bought them from was snowed shut.. Then when he was open- we were snowed shut or the roads were closed ...
Finally got things together after a month ....

Have some bulls a fella is going to pick up-- but when he isn't snowed in- we are.... And much of the Montana Banana Belt has their snow melted and are loving the 20-30-40 degee temps.. Last night when I was expounding on the fact that it was 4 Above-- a fella in Two Dot told me they had 40 Above....

Spring can't come soon enough for me.......

Snowing again here -- and predicting snow and winds tomorrow :(

Days like today it's kind of fun just to see if a p[erson can hit a new personal best of bad luck-I've raised the bar pretty high some days. Megan won provincial 4H public speaking describing one of them lol. Just remember a day like you had would just crush a lesser man.

I worked with a crew that used to just wait for the first guy to screw up, always hoping that it would be first thing. There thought process was if you could get it over with first thing you could get to work after you got the mess straightened out. So hopefully this will be your big mess for the year and it will all be smooth sailing from here on out. By the way didn't the [email protected]$$ that ran you off the road even stop to help you. Probably afraid of what might have happened if he did.

no she didn't - we made eye contact but to her defense it was nasty out and visibility wasn't the greatest. it looked like to me she got straightened out and kept going. when i hit the ditch i dropped my phone and when i came to a stop i was looking for it to get back to the fella's conversation.

Sounds familiar :D

This morning on the way to work,

I looked over to my left and there was a

Woman

In a brand new
Cadillac

Doing 65 mph

With her
Face up next to her
Rear view mirror

Putting on her eyeliner.

I looked away

For a couple seconds...

to continue shaving

And when I looked back she was

Halfway over in my lane,

Still working on that makeup.

As a man,

I don't scare easily.

But she scared me so much;
I dropped

My electric shaver

Which knocked

The donut
Out of my other hand.

In all the confusion of trying
To straighten out the car

Using my knees against
The steering wheel,

It knocked
My Cell Phone

Away from my ear

Which fell

Into the coffee

Between my legs!

Splashed,

And burned

Big Jim and the Twins,

Ruined the damn phone,

Soaked my trousers,

And disconnected an
Important call.

Damn women drivers!
