I Support Obama

Well so far there has been three things I support Obama on and hope he succeeds!

1. I like any CEO who gets government money being limited on his salary, even though this seems socialistic of me I think it could deter the asking for bail outs and help companies to take care of their own problems.

2. I support Obama if he will follow through on getting rid of bad teachers, to long now bad teachers have been protected by the union.

3. I support Obama sending a surge of troops to Afghanistan, it had success in Iraq and I am glad to see he learned from past successful examples and he is taking charge of a bad situation.

I hope he succeeds in all three of those endeavors, his failure in these areas would only hurt America!

Ps. Now have I earned the right to complain about those things I do not approve of and hope that he fails in them?

I'll agree with you on those three things and throw in a couple more.

The latest decision by the Obama Justice Department contending that detainees in Afghanistan have no constitutional rights is a good stance. Although it seems to me that it is somewhat confusing considering their stand on Guantanamo.

Also, I really like the way that President Obama places so much emphasis on family and on parents being involved in their children's education. I don't think that's really anything different than President Bush did, but President Obama should have more influence with young men in the black community where more involvement from fathers is sorely needed.

I agree on them two also! Five things we wish he succeeds on and we agree with. How many before we are allowed to disagree and complain on the bad things he is doing? :?

White House Tries to End Bank Nationalization Talk

Friday, February 20, 2009 5:21 PM

WASHINGTON -- The White House on Friday insisted it's not trying to take over two ailing financial institutions, even as stocks tumbled again. On Wall Street, talk of nationalization of Citigroup Inc., and Bank of America Corp., prompted investors to continue to balk, worried that the government would have to take control and wipe out shareholders in the process.

Citigroup fell 20 percent, while Bank of America fell 12 percent in afternoon trading but also came off their lowest levels.

"This administration continues to strongly believe that a privately held banking system is the correct way to go, ensuring that they are regulated sufficiently by this government,"
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said when asked about nationalizing the banks.

"That's been our belief for quite some time, and we continue to have that," Gibbs said.

Investors have shown decreasing confidence that U.S. banks can right themselves. Citigroup and Bank of America have already received significant help from taxpayers as the government has rushed in to try to save the financial sector, which has been choked by bad assets and seen the flow of credit shrink.

The speculation about the two banks' future continued to take a direct toll on the market.

Gibbs was pressed for more details on his answer -- specifically whether Obama would not nationalize banks. He said it was hard for him to be any clearer.

When a reporter suggested Gibbs could do that by saying point bank that Obama would never nationalize banks, Gibbs would not make that statement, but emphasized: "I think I was very clear about the system that this country has and will continue to have."

I can only give Obama partial credit for this one... not because it was others' idea, but because he is only partially supporting the commanders on the ground who asked for "in excess of 30,000" troops..

by only giveing enough to make it look good, Obama is setting the surge policy up for failure.. while I am not sure of Obama's motives for ignoring the advice of the "generals" I hope it isn't so he can say... see,.. I told you it a surge wouldn't work... ? ?

over all the amount is not a surge if you take into consideration the nations that are saying they are pulling out... and those who are there but not fighting...

and I pray I am wrong and it does work.. but I will continue to push for all the troops the generals requested...

I thought he sent more than was asked for, I thought they only wanted 12,000? I may be wrong though, I just thought I heard it that way on TV, I will have to look into it!

They might be calling it Nationalize lite on the banks by taking over only the larger ones but I doubt that the DOW thinks it as Nationalize lite as it is dropping again today.
