I sure hope this doesn't get back to the troops

Shocking. Shocking, I say. Chuck Hagel is still going strong about Iraq. Maybe he should be kicked out of the Senate for telling the truth. The rubber stamp Republicans may just disown him! Link below; my emphasis.

"The United States needs to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq within the next six months, Sen. Chuck Hagel said Thursday, rather than ratcheting up its military commitment now.
With Iraq exploding in sectarian violence and "moving closer and closer to a straight-out civil war," Hagel said, the Bush administration’s decision to transfer nearly 5,000 additional U.S. troops into Baghdad is "only going to make it worse for us."
In the end, he said, "feed(ing) more American troop fodder into the fight" could result in "even a worse defeat."
Iraqis are "going to have to step up" and assume responsibility for defense of their country, Hagel told a telephone news conference from Washington.
Hagel said he believes increasing U.S. troop strength in Iraq by extending military tours while cycling in new troops is a mistake.
"Eventually, we need to start pulling people out of there," said the Nebraska Republican, who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
With violence "out of control" and militias in charge, Hagel said, U.S. troops increasingly are "seen as occupiers."
If Iraqis themselves do not assume control of their country’s fate, he said, the nation may dissolve into a civil war that splits it into three countries.
It’s also possible Iraq may evolve into some kind of Islamic republic, he said.
Asked what the United States could do, Hagel said: "Ask the president. Ask Secretary (of Defense Donald) Rumsfeld. They’re the ones who got us into this."

I do think Mr. Hagel has had about all he can stomach of this Administation's badly planned and executed war in Iraq. Go, Chuck. :D How does Chuck Hagel for President sound to you?

You are correct. He should be kicked out of the senate. For my money he can leave the country. Treasonist. Bunch of lilly livered cowards I say. If they can't keep their mouth shut while we have an ongoing war and refrain from throwing in the towell while our troops are in theatre, they don't deserve the office or the benefits of the country. Neither do you.

Reader, quoting Abe Lincoln who was quoting the Bible, A house divided against itself can not stand." You're for us or against us in my opinion. How would you like to be playing football and the quarter back said all the coaches plays were wrong? We need to walk off the field before someone gets hurt. How's that for leadership? It's worse in this case. If a senator can't be supportive of the troops and the mission while they are on the battlefield risking their lives, he needs to be replaced. I don't care what party he's from. JMO ...and before dis jumps on me , my analogy to football isn't to make light of the efforts of the soldiers. I know this isn't a football game. Our soldiers deserve leadership that aren't cowards. We are there , finish the mission.

Well maybe this isnt all bad, actually it could be good?
Maybe this is the US army positioning itself so that the Sunni/Shiite civil war can go full speed a head with the US backing the sunnies?
Politically it would be hard for the US to condone the sunnies exterminating the shiites. So maybe just step back and let it happen but be in a position to prevent Iran from invadeing or instaling a puppet government in Iraq.
The simple fact of the matter is that the shiites seem to be out to destroy western civilization. I intentionally didn't say "extremist shiites are out to destroy western civilization" because that is a mythical group. Extremist shiites are like extremist Christians, only with reversed ratios. What I mean by that is that while there is the rare Jim Jones out there for the christians, the most of them are pretty decent. You may have the rare, tolerant shiite but this does not seem to be the norm.
Anyway when I first heard Gen. Hagel my first thoughts where that the more shiites terrorests that the sunnies kill the less shiite terrorests that we will have to kill :D
