I went to Miles City

GF--"I tend to think now that the miracle is that producers keep on buying overpriced products that they don't really need on the promise that they will solve all their problems. " '

The key here, GF, is you think. You are not the only one in
this business. And if folks buy mineral or liquid supplement, I bet
there's a reason besides spending their money foolishly or that
they don't have something else to spend it on. It makes them money
or they wouldn't do it. I sold my first mineral in 1994 to a rancher with
hoof rot problems. That rancher is still a customer today. Probably
hard for you to believe, but it's true. Supplementing mineral is not a fad.

Where we live, people MAKE THEIR LIVING with cattle or farming. They haven't survived by spending $$$ foolishly.

Faster Horses, Younger women, Older whiskey, more money

Who really was the roter. rooter operator from Miles City Montana that discovered North Dakota?

At least I admit those are my opinions only - I never claimed to be the only one in this business or the one with all the right answers. You seem to be the one intent on proving that yours is the only way not me. What makes you think I don't make my living with cattle or farming? Never done anything else nor have my family for many generations - don't even sell minerals as a sideline.
So did you have any comments on the quotes I posted re the ionophores or on loomixguys product?

Try this report albeit an outdated one - I realise that these products are both now approved for use on breeding cows but is that because they have been proven safe or the drug companies have paid the politicians enough? As I say I wouldn't use either of these products and this report certainly highlights some concerns there were with them. Not natural, healthy products by any means.

Ionophores.
Ionophores are polyether antibiotics that transport ions across biological membranes.

Rumensin is not approved for use with dairy cows or beef cows.
Rumensin is more toxic to horses and swine than cattle

(Bovatec) It has not been approved for feeding to
breeding animals or to cattle on pasture. Bovatec is less toxic than Rumensin for farm animals. However, it is not safe for horses.

Ah, so that's how your wonder mineral "builds healthy immune systems" in your cattle - by feeding them low rate antibiotic on a daily basis with Bovatec or Rumensin.    Starting the drug pimping before they even hit the feedlot - sure glad we are in the business of retailing grass-fed, antibiotic and hormone free beef.

Exactly what are you implying with your statement about the cow/calf outfit that feeds vigortone mineral ????

hormone free grassfarmer???? :???: Perhaps you should be saying: "no implants" or "no added growth hormone"

I wasn't implying anything about the cow/calf outfit that feeds vigortone - only that I do not think it is good practise to be feeding either of these ionophores. I don't like the fact that it feeds into the whole hormone/antibiotic culture of our "industry". Particularly as a Canadian you should realise that as soon as we treat with hormones or to a lesser antibiotics we are effectively making our animals captive to the north American domestic market and the price constraints that brings.
Agreed the point of "no implants" or no "added growth hormone" versus the "hormone free" term I use. I'm used to dealing with consumers and hormone free is what they understand :)

I understood you correctly the first time. You are implying the same - again - with the usage / reference to breeding cows.

Where the hell was faster horses? :?

Not to hijack the topic - but I am pretty sure I literally dropped into Miles City once some years ago - in a couple of Hornets - landed over top of a baseball diamond full of people.

Had to fix a technical problem and then we left.

It made a bit of a scene - everyone showed up at the strip to see us - took me two hours to run my mini ground demo so all the kids could have a look inside the airplane.

Some kind soul drove us down town to a steak house and we had supper and then left

Never met FH!!!

It's ok to hijack this thread. It wasn't going anywhere anyhow.
Nowhere FH wanted it to go anyway  - like explaining how such a self professed expert like herself has been selling ionophores for years without realising they are antibiotics

You are a "right fighter" aren't you?

I would think that if some of us are doing what works for us by using all these "unhealthy bad products" that you would be jumping for joy and marketing more of the product you are selling.
Does it really matter to you what others across the fence are doing if it doesn't affect you? Give it a break.
Until regulations make it illegal to do so, I will keep using ionophores, implants, and killing predators because these protocals work for me. Each to his own and live and let live.
