Where do you suggest I go the month of July or August?
And I don't care much for heat.

Where in Saskatchawan, Alberta or BC?
Please name me some places to see besides the Calgary Stampede.
Thanks, can hardly wait for your replies.

You might want to consider Visiting the Douglas lake Ranch , in southern BC http://www.douglaslake.com/ it is one of the largest ranches in Canada if not the largest , :)

Douglas Lake Ranch is nice, but the grass should be pretty brown by then. But still worth the look see. :) It doesn't get too hot in my area and there's tons of fishin' too :D . They don't call this area the Lakes District for nothing :) Barkerville in BC would also be a neat place to see.
Alberta has some real nice places to see and a lots of history stuff.
I like the Frank Slide, I have a real draw for that for some reason?
The Buffalo Jump is another neat place.
You can also follow the "Cowboy Trail" which is Hwy 22 from Hwy 3 north to Rocky Mountain House. Lots of neat stuff to see along the way.
Of course Banff and Jasper National Parks are always worth seeing.

I guess it depends on how far you're willing to go. The Peace country is awful nice that time of year, and up north it's quite incredible. Muncho Lake, Toad River..... incredible scenery. You can't go wrong with BC as long as you stay out of Vancouver
Fraser Canyon, Hell's Gate, Barkerville, and lot's of interesting things if you care to get off the beaten path.
gcreek and Jigger both live in VERY nice places..... sounds like you better come see us all!

Sounds like fun. You are absolutely correct. Avoid Calgary during the Stampede unless you are involved in the rodeo. That trip up highway 22 after Frank Slide and the Buffalo jump is great. It is called the Cowboy Trail. It passes by many old historic active ranches such as the A7, Rocking P, D, Mount Sentinel as well as the Bar U historic site. HWY 22 also misses Calgary on the west. I would turn left at Longview and take the Kananaskis trail past the OH Ranch. It will be a pleasant drive that ends up east of Canmore. Then head west through Banff and turn north on the Columbia Icefield road (can't remember the #) all the way to Jasper. That is were to hook up with NR on the way to Williams Lake. Keep in mind that in one paragraph we have traveled a long way. There are lots of great stops along the way.

Oh, kolanuraven, I've come to know the Canadians are lovers, not
fighters. :p

Thanks all for your information. Is there a bus or train or something
so that I won't have to drive through some of this country?
Or do you know of a place that has transportation, even if
I have to take a tour bus?

But driving is half the fun-you can coyote along and poke your nose into what interests you along the way. The rodeo van takes some scenic routes throughout the year I tell ya.

A train trip through the Rockies going through Edson/Hinton and Jasper all the way to Prince Rupert would be a gorgeous trip !!, then maybe at Prince Rupert, take a cruise ship up to Alaska or down to Vancouver. :D .
Ok,... now I want to go!
There was a program on TV that Valerie Pringle did, it was a train trip from Vancouver up through McBride and through the rest of Canada. It was a neat program with lots of great scenery.
I'll have to go see if I can find it online somewhere. I'll post it if I can find it.

Found it.... well kinda...

Anywhere on Vancouver Island. Just pick a spot, and it's nice. One time we took the ferry to Gibson's Landing from Horseshoe Bay, then crossed over to Nanaimo on the Island, then down to Victoria and back by ferry to Tswassen. It was a beautiful trip. In the summer at night Victoria is really gorgeous down by the harbour. Everything's lit up, boats included, there are flowers everywhere, and buskers for entertainment. It's never hot, and never cold. Quite an amazing place.

Other favourite places in B.C. are the drive up the TransCanada through the Fraser River Canyon, going through Hope and past Hell's Gate. Also the Okanagan in July for cherries, and August for peaches. Yum!!! :D I second the Barkerville suggestion. Old gold mining town, sort of like Deadwood used to be before the casinos moved in.

In Alberta, the Tyrell Museum at Drumheller is world class, and worth the trip all by itself.

Faster, theres so many great places to visit in Canada,as you can see. The places per and I wrote about is lots of driving through GREAT ranchland, with points of interest. I don't know much about Sask but Greg really liked Coreys area when he drove through a couple yrs ago picking up some horses. If you look at BMRs pic on Mantracker....theres an area...wow!

The BC Peace Country Silvers in.......Beautiful!!!

Katos Suggestion of the Island.....shes right, breathtaking really! If you fly into Victoria, stay around the Harbour{we stayed at the Empress} theres tour buses in front of Empress that will take you on the tours, plus great tourist areas right around the Harbour....I loved Victoria!!!!BC is truly a beautiful province!!!!

If you hit Alta again....let us know, our July is scary busy but we can and will make time to visit you wherever :)
