Read Conspiracy Theory Conservatism ... It's an excellent commentary and PB is a living, breathing illustration of the danger of this trend.

I like our having a two-party system. I support a revived GOP, but not the crazy conspiracy theory version seen here.

They're in deep trouble and I don't see much chance of them recovering quickly. They don't have a leader. They grudgingly elected a black to head the RNC, but he's no Barack Obama. And he doesn't have a lot of support because of the racist factor in the party. Inside the beltway, some Republicans have shown signs of wanting to be a more inclusive party, but people like you see here are the base of the party and they're not willing to give an inch. Meanwhile, the rest of the country moves on, arguing, changing, discussing, disagreeing, agreeing, compromising. You know, like adults.

Compromise our morals??
Compromise our freedom??
Compromise our history??
Our future as a free republic??

Is this what you're willing to give up in order to supposedly be part of the "new generation"?

I don't think you should give up a thing. As a registered Dem and one that has seen the damage a Republican/Conservative Party in charge has done, I think you should stick by your morals.....and push them on everyone else. You should not compromise your freedom....but do infringe on everyone elses'. History is history and the winner writes it. Our republic is freerer today than while Bush was in the White House claiming that he wasn't bound by the Constitution.

It what ways is it different?

you need to listen to Naomi Wolf on that subject, maybe you aren't aware of the campaigning she did for Obama.

Here are her 10 steps to a Tyrannical government, she wrote these when Bush was president. She now says it is unfortunate that Obama has only expanded on any of this and not "changed" anything in a positive manner.

1 Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy

2 Create a gulag

3 Develop a thug caste

4 Set up an internal surveillance system

5 Harass citizens' groups

6 Engage in arbitrary detention and release

7 Target key individuals

8 Control the press

9 Dissent equals treason

10 Suspend the rule of law
