He runs as an Independent- which requires the candidate to get petitions signed to get on the ballot (which I think he is recognized by most states already, since he has ran previously and got a high enough % of the vote) or he runs as one of the minority parties (Libertarian, Constitutionalist, Green Party, Reform Party, etc) that are already recognized...I think the last time he ran as an Independent endorsed by the Reform Party- the time before that he was a Green Party candidate....

All these past elections were Democrats for Democrats or Republicans for Republicans. (Exceptin a few states where you can pick either one to vote in)

A third part is neither Democrat or Republican. I forget the qualifications needed to get your name on the Presidential ballot in the GENERAL election I think you have to have so many people sign a petition to get you on that states general election ballot. I am sure someone like OT can explain them exact qualifications.

THX OT and Aplus. OT had mentioned independents before but I thought in the end your ballets only had Dem's or Rep's on them. Has an independent ever won the presidency before?? Although I really can't judge your election its looking to me nobodys really satisfied with anyone who's been running up until now. Will Ralph have a good chance??

No Independent has ever won...I think the closest is Teddy Roosevelt when he came back after he'd retired and ran on the Bull Moose Party...

I don't think Nader will be much of an impact in this election....He's an old man (about like McCain) and everyone knows he can't win.... In years before he had a lot of activist followers (young folks and college students) that were his volunteers-- but this year they are all going to Obama- so if Obama is the Dem candidate he won't get them...

The Dems claim his candidacy lost the election for Al Gore :???: But I don't see that as the case anymore....The Dems and the majority of the US populace are pretty well united in one thing- we need CHANGE- and it needs to be MAJOR CHANGE....And so far the probable nominee of the Repubs is not offering that- another neoconservative beating the Bush drum- which won't get him anywhere....Lots of Repubs I talk to can't stand McCain and can just see him as a mirror of GW Bush...Some of those might vote for Nader rather than a Dem. :???: ...
BUT
Unless there is a major turn of events in the next 8 months, I see the Dems winning the White House- and controlling both houses of the Congress....And everyday that GW makes another bumble you hear someone saying they may have to vote for the Democrat "because they can't be any worse than Bush".....

Actually OT I'm hearing just oposite - most around here are saying no matter who the Democrats nominate they will vote for anyone else. The Democtat controled congress turned them off long before the primaries.

I guess the contempt for and discontent of the current neocon crew running the country was best shown around here when in the local caucus's Ron Paul was the big winner....
Lot of local folks don't think we should be putting foreign nation building ahead of taking care of our own nation- especially when the neocons nation building is bankrupting this country......

The more people are dissatisfied with the Dem and Rep nominations, the more people will vote for the Independent.

Looks to me like Ralph might do better this time around than any other......

He may not be able to get on the ballot in every state, but in enough to have a say-so in the outcome.

GO RALPH!

Down here where you could still shoot Tarzan Movies on the streets, at LEAST 25-26% of the votes will go to Obama.

You really need to poke a few more airholes in that pointy white hood of yours. A little more oxygen might allow you to think more clearly.

You might want to look around at who is promoting races. Just look at the televison and see who is racist.
