IM almost too embarassed to tell this story

Dumbest thing I done all year, goes kinda like this here.................
I have a couple young horses I been riding, and the bay was lots better than the paint, bought him green but gentle and the more time I spent with him the better I liked him,was tellin eveyone this is the youngest horse I ever seen that acted dead broke that quick.
I could ride him 5 or 6 miles get off him, unclip my reins and let him follow me around.
Well about 3 days ago I was riding along my north fence line and saw a large bunch of feral hogs and seen where they were tearing up my fence rooting under it and rooting what little grass we have around here,so I thought to myself,Ill be here at daybreak with that ole antique 30-30 of mine and thin em out or at least move em over to the neighbors place, they seem to be animal lovers. Besides some pork ribs did'nt sound all bad for that weekend.
So that's the plan.............next morning, I was saddlin the Bay as it was just gettin light,we lit out.
Everything was workin so good, the little bay was cantering nicely him and I were in time, and we were eatin up ground.
Then coming through the middle pasture I needed to loose some coffe,be a good time to check the Bays cinch.
I was almost finished when the bay spotted the cows, and to far from him to stop him,he decides to go visit.........cows throw their tail straight up in the air and the race is on.
Im standin there thinking that ole 30-30 that I been puttin off tying a thong to the scabbard aint gonna make it.
10 minutes later the bay comes huntin me,less....... yup you guessed it,my ole saddle gun.
Took me 3 days and lots of boot leather to find that ole gun.
Moral of this story......................Never ever trust a young horse.
good luck

After rereading your story i got to thinkin' maybe you could borrow one of your lady friends thongs to hold your gun in.

That is if you don't already. :p

I got a good leather strap on it now.....................how would sumthin as flimsy as a lacey thong hold my old gun,the ones I have seen aint got enough material to make a low cut dress for a hummingbird.
good luck
