I'm just wondering,

if the amount of energy burned on PB and its postings could be re-directed. How many could or would take the time to grab thier legislators by the ear and help them write progressive bills. It may be a way to be part of the solution and not just re-active thinking.
Although some of it is educational and gives exposure, it sure causes alot of grief on here when we get off subject and personalize posts.
Like I said, I am just wondering.
Thank you for the opportunity to rant.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. The problem for Republicans/Conservatives is that they don't seem to have any ideas, progressive or otherwise. They're the party of "no." And that's about it.

I can't really blame them. The Bush Administration demanded their supporters toe the line, no free thought allowed. It'll take a few years for these guys to come up with something new.....other than the "Birthers". They are obviously the new leaders of the Conservative movement.

Somebody has got to say "No" when the other side is all about trying to bankrupt the country and turn us into a socialist nation as fast as they can.

We have to remember who was in charge when we got into this financial mess: Republicans. It was George W. Bush who first proposed bailing out the banking industry. (Have you sent him a thank you note, Sandhusker?)

It's funny to me that people rant about "socialism", but don't seem to mind driving on good roads or sending their kids to public school or calling the police or fire department when they need help. And the funniest are the Republicans screaming about "government run health insurance" when they have government run health insurance!

Just like showing that you don't know the definition of "natural born citizen", you just showed that you don't know the definition of socialism. Look it up.

Yep- all these folks have to remember that most economists figure we were in or well going into the Bush Bust recession/depression in 2007--and that for 12 years prior to that Republicans controlled Congress- and for 6 of those years also controlled the White House....
AND THEY FAILED MISERABLY!!

But now that folks booted them for that failure- and their misguided direction- instead of learning from those screwups- some are still working to and openly spouting they want to see this country to fail now- so they can play partisan politics... :(

Your "natural born citizen" doesn't mean squat. Obama meets the criteria for being President. And he is president. Live with it.....every day. :D

You just said that the Constutution of the US doesn't mean squat.

If you can answer the question that I've asked you twice this morning, and you've avoided twice; "When did Obama's father become a US citizen?", you will have taken the first step to proving that Obama does meet the criteria. Until you do, you're just another liberal devoid of any facts or rational arguement flapping their lips.

You have already said TODAY you cant do anything to help this country......which is it?
NM There have been many times I have offered to help local all the way up....the problem for most is the only "help" they want is money....sorry I dont have alot of that ....I dont live off my dad or inherated alot of land to live on so I have to work for others which they dont pay very good.
I have called and voice my opionions on upcoming bills and recent actions by some congressmen.
I have been trying to get others to get active even knowing how hard it is unless you have money to give the politicians.

Now you see who started attacking ......untill everyone steps back and see what THEY are doing to cause this rift it will not change its always the other guy....

I understand MsSage, I haven't inheirited one red cent in my life or any property either. So money isnt going to come from me. I think what we can do is be part of any group headed in the direction of our beliefs, no mater partisnship and work with them and expose the wrong doings or unethical or poor moral character of our elected officials. But in NM ya better keep your head low and watch your back for exposing a certain someone in Santa Fe!

This is just one forum. There are other forums who are informing, taking actions, planning actions, comtemplating actions, etc. Mostly you just need to figure out if you are a believer in their mission when you get into that site.

There are some news publications that offer no editorial or opinionated input.

Old Timer I think the democrats miss read why the republicans got beat. The democrats thought it was the Iraq war. I think it was the graft and corruption, Tom Delay's screwing around with every thing he touched. The lobbyist that was working with Tom you remember him. (Jack Abramoff is an American former lobbyist, businessman and con man who was a central figure in a series of high-profile political scandals). Any way the democrats thought it was the war. Looks like we just swapped one bunch for another bunch

Oh I remember him quite well- as he also brought down my states senior Senator - Conrad Burns....Another person I had supported and voted for- (even had a couple toddy's with) until his corruption and graft came out- filling his personal election warchest with taxpayers money...
Montana did the right thing and sent him kicking his lunch can down the road....

The Iraq War played a fair role in the 06 election- but the corruption and hypocriticism of the Repub party- and their moves more and more to their radical far right extremist "base" played a major role in both 06 and 08...

If I remember right- the main issues on folks minds prior to the 08 election- were the economy (which included a longterm energy plan to wean us off foreign dependence) after the Bush Bust became apparent- and his Oil/Wall Street Buddies had gouged every dime in profiteering they could out of folks-- followed by Health Care costs and the need for reform of the Health Care Insurance system...
And it appears to me right now those are the issues the majority folks in D.C are trying to tackle first- while the Repubs scream NO and offer no alternatives....Some of which (like Health Care reform) were promises GW had gave in 2000- but then forgot about.....

I probably call, write, or send an e-mail about once or twice a week...Always get a prompt answer from Senator Tester- usually get one (altho always just a standard form letter) from Senator Baucus...Never get anything from Congressman Rehberg-- altho he probably remembers me from calling him so many times before the election- and questioning his decision to abandon all the work Montana Ag groups have done building up a trade repore with Cuba- and had changed his vote, voting against dropping the Cuban Embargo-- and then just coincidentally getting a next day campaign contribution from a Florida based proembargo lobbyiest group- which by election time he had taken over $11,000 campaign donations from...
Following in Conman Burns' footsteps- putting his own pocketbook ahead of his constituents interests... :(
Didn't vote for him this time either--But he didn't care- as he didn't have anyone running against him either...

I've written a few letters, and sent alot of e-mails.. and been able to bend the ear of a local assemblyman (D) who agrees with much of what I say.. he has even sponsored bills about issues we have discussed..

I've been involved in a few petitions.. a current one is a recall of our mayor and a commissioner.. (the mayor R, commisioner D? )..

I've sent letters to congressmen and senators and even one President Bush.. but I don't think they even read them...

I've shaken the hand of a president.. and received a nice letter,..

I've been to a few protests.. usually standing with a "water cannon" in my hand, and even one with a hand made poster.

I've thought about running for office and many of my friends think I should,.. but I doubt I would like the headaches of kissing but..

I started on here along time ago.. when I read a post that was... misleading to say the least..

Some of what I have learned here is the reason for some of the e-mails, letters and discussions..

and I hope to never help write a "progressive" bill as they always end up seeming so darn regressive..
