Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

There is some debate on whether Mr. Thomas actually said this. Below is a quote definitely attributed to him.

“The difference between Democrats and Republicans is: Democrats have accepted some ideas of Socialism cheerfully, while Republicans have accepted them reluctantly”

Let us see how this has just played with our democrat friends today. Two examples should be enough.

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Sen. Hillary Clinton, (D-NY), on raising taxes, quoted by The Associated Press, 6/28/04

"It's a new day. Communism is dead. It's even dead in Cuba. I hate to say it, but it's dead. . . . Sen. Barbara Boxer, (D-California), quoted in NewsMax.com

I guess it really does not matter if Mr. Norman said the above quote or not. The plan has worked regardless.

Change is not always for the better.

Wasn't FDR the one that passed Social Security..........interpreted as the biggest Ponzi Scheme of all time?

Which was expanded by Ike- and which you couldn't get two votes now if you ran on a platform of doing away with it.....

That was the plan from the start. To make the masses dependent on a social program.

Now we have become dependent on Medicare, which by the way, is also a Ponzi Scheme that is very inefficient due to the high administration costs. Much more so than than private insurance.

Have you looked lately to see how much of our budget is targeted towards "Entitlements"?
