Does this go for Bush & Cheney then too?

No, of course not. That has already been proven.

This morning the president had a press conference and was asked a question about Putin being named man of the year. The president said he had some reservations because of human rights (note who approved the torturing/waterboarding), the control of the media (who put a journalist in jail and then pardoned Libby?), and the well being of the Russian people (who has turned corporatist?), and transparency (no need to elaborate here), promoting democracy and freedom in the world (who supports Musharreff as he kills democracy in Pakistan and helps hide Osama), and peace in the world (who is the cause of mass migrations of people out of war zones?).

This man has already been proven -- there is no more assumption.

Okay, so you think Hillery or Obama would be better??
All we know is what the liberal media wants us to know.....
Do you think we know as much as the president does????

Katrina-- night before last my buddy Arther Itis was acting up- and I watched FCC hearings/speeches on C-SPAN in the wee hours...This was just after the 3 Republican FCC commissioner had finished having a middle of the night secret vote (3-2)- to allow consolidation of 60 some TV, Radio, and Newspaper stations into bigger monopolous conglomerates- and now you complain that they are all Liberal and preach/promote the same thing....  :(

I have to give credit to the commissioner from Rapid City- as he tore the majority a new rear end--about how these middle of the night, spur of the moment votes to avoid transparency created more consolidation/monopolization and just removed more transparency/free press from the scene- as they consolidated many multi-media corporations-- throwing out the principles they were set up to protect- again for the corporate gain of a few elitists paying off the Administration....... :(

So don't complain about the entire media being owned by any one group--as GW's boys just gave them a whole lot more ownership/control :( :(

They were the 2 that voted against it-( 5 on the Commission) and were criticizing the backroom deal made by the 3 Repubs- that didn't want to argue the issue during the light of day.... :(

According to the Rapid City commissioner-- at all the hearings thruout the country- all the populace/citizens/common folk testified against any more consolidation of these media outlets-- some that own several Newspapers, radio and TV stations, and magazines already... But in the true form of GW's entire administration, who went against 80% of the populace to support amnesty for Illegal invaders, the Repub commissioners arrogantly stated that these voters/common folk don't understand the issues....

You may be right there, Katrina. After all Bush and Cheny are spending someone else's money other than his own to do the things they want to do. And a nice house, helicopter and airplane security service, great invites to parties to boot. Just think of all the goodies their close friends get in the form of business deals and get out of jail free passes.

In all fairness, the Enquirer was also the one to break the Monica Lewinsky story with ol' Bill. Everyone said, "Poo, poo, can't be true," then, too.

"Get out of jail free passes"??? On Der Schleickmeister's last day in orifice, he gave out a HUNDRED AND HOW MANY Presidential Pardons? Of course, Slick Willie had already recieved one Presidential Pardon, from Jimmah Cahtah, for dodging the draft in Viet Nam.

Funny how the libs can only see the bad when it concerns the Repubs but never when it concerns their own, and Lord knows that have been plenty of times a Dem has stepped on his errr, ahh, "stick".

Hey, I don't discount ANYTHING you say. I am mad at the last two presidents, and it has nothing to do with the party affiliation except for the fact that it is the party that allows and puts up with this stuff making them just as guilty. I don't go for the "the other guy is worse than me so forget about my faults" that politicians seem to shove at us. You are totally right that Bill Clinton took the office of the presidency to the gutter and used its powers to benefit him and his friends. GW took that a little further with the help of Carl Rove.

I am totally ready for a change. So is the rest of the country.

You're confused. The Enquirer didn't break the Clinton/Lewinski story. The Drudge Report did. The Enquirer is the one who broke the "man explodes in operating room" and the "Ann Coulter has an alien child" stores.

The Clintonite who owns National Enquirer

The political world has been holding its nose for the last twenty-four hours while peering at the weekly tabloid National Enquirer, which published a story yesterday alleging that presidential candidate John Edwards had an extra-marital affair.

"The story is false," Edwards told reporters in South Carolina today, according to a reporter who was there.

What the tabloid's readers, in politics and out, may not know is that a key owner of the Enquirer is a prominent New York investment banker and one of Hillary Clinton's key backers, Roger Altman. Altman was an official in the first Clinton administration, and his name is often mentioned as a possible Clinton Treasury Secretary.

The investment boutique which Altman founded and chairs, Evercore Partners, bought a controlling stake in American Media, which publishes the Enquirer, in 1999, which it still holds with a partner. Evercore's president, Austin Beutner, sits on American Media's Board of Directors, according to Evercore's website.

A spokesman for American Media, Richard Valvo, said in an email that Altman has "no involvement in editorial, ever." He said that Evercore owns 20 percent of the company through an investment fund. Altman didn't respond to an email seeking comment or to a message left with his secretary.

American Media has also published lurid and negative stories about the Clintons since its acquisition.

Yesterday's National Enquirer story was mirrored by a pair of stories in the Huffington Post -- whose public face, Arianna Huffington, is a harsh critic of Clinton. The Huffington Post stories implied that the Edwards campaign was concerned about its relationship with a film-maker, Rielle Hunter, who had shot web videos for Edwards. The stories stopped short of directly suggesting the candidate had a relationship with her, something Mickey Kaus made explicit on Slate yesterday.

"The MSM seems to be strenuously trying to not report it," Kaus wrote, and indeed, aside from a disapproving link to Kaus's item on the website of the New Republic, and gleeful coverage on the gossip blog Wonkette, the story has mostly stayed out of the old-line press. But it's unclear whether that reluctance is the result of Clinton-era neurosis about the topic of sex, or a less fraught sense that there simply isn't much to report here, particularly in the case of a candidate who lacks the media wattage and poll numbers of his rivals.

The Enquirer story cites anonymous emails from the un-named woman allegedly involved to another un-named source.

But Hunter reportedly issued a disgusted denial of the stories earlier today, via a spokesperson quoted by the veteran blogger Jerome Armstrong on MyDD (Armstrong emailed Politico that the spokesman was her lawyer, Robert Gordon):

The innuendoes and lies that have appeared on the internet and in the National Enquirer concerning John Edwards are not true, completely unfounded and ridiculous....

When working for the Edwards camp, my conduct as well as the conduct of my entire team was completely professional.

This concocted story is just dirty politics and I want no part of it.
