I don't know how many of you have read 'Who Has Seen The Wind' by W.O. Mitchell-it's the definitive novel about growing up in the depression in rural Saskatchewan-if you haven't read it you should. Anyway I just read W.o's biography and the version printed in the U'S has 7,000 words less than the Canadian one. W.O writes such great dialogue I'm going to make sure I find a Canadian version and reread it-I hate to have missed any of it. I remember Dad reading 'Jake and the Kid' to us when we were little kids-he's a great author.

Sounds good. I just got done re-reading all the Ralph Moody stories about "Little Britches" and his formative years. Great stories and a lot to be learned.

I reread them too Jinglebob, and enjoyed them so much!!!
Some darn good reading there.

Oh that 'yeller colt'...what a deal... Always made me
laugh when I thought of those yellow teeth snapping together
when they walked by his stall.

I first was introduced to the Ralph Moody books when our teacher
read them to us after lunch in the country school I attended.

The publisher must think we Americans are reading-challenged  It would be interesting to know which words he decided to drop and why. Good thing the author is probably unaware by now.
I JUST WENT TO AMAZON.COM AND THEY'RE SELLING THEM USED FOR 36 CENTS. (Of course shipping makes it a little over $3.00) So one should be headed my way soon. Thank you for the recommendation.

The movie is awesome also-the characters are all based on real life people in W.O's life-even 'Strange Sammy' the guy who lives in the old piano box who has the prize Clydesdale horses. The real life character finally froze to death in a blizzard out by Castor, Alta.
