Millions of $$$$$ fly thru the air daily via the internet.

Medical records are sent via the internet

Social Security, credit card numbers, bills paid daily, etc are sent via the Net daily.

Why can't we internet vote?

Can't be a security issue.....why?

I don't want it, at least not yet, and part of it is a security issue. Social Security and credit card numbers are stolen off the internet on a regular basis. There are too many computer savvy people out there that could wreak havoc with internet voting.

Not only that, I don't think we should make it too easy for people. Let there be at least a little effort involved, even if it just involves sitting down at the table, filling out a ballot, and mailing it. Let those who take it seriously enough to make a little effort do the voting. Does anyone really want people sitting down to a computer, after having paid absolutely no attention to what's been going on, and voting for our leaders like they were voting to kick someone off American Idol or who they think is going to win the Super Bowl? Not me.

Call me old fashioned, but we've gotten along without internet voting up till now, and we'll do just fine without it in the future.

My thoughts were that if it were another option, along with early voting & absentee, many MORE people would vote as then they could just vote from work and not stand in lines.

I think it would be a viable option and if someone wanted to...they could make it secure.

Very doubtful they could make it any more secure than the contents of a seive. I was recently charged for a train ticket in Norway. This was on a card that is only used to purchase fuel here at home and has never been used anywhere else...especially on the internet! They even charged me to convert USD to Euros.

But, it would allow the lib whack jobs and ACORN types HUNDREDS of opportunities to vote!!!

Why can't we internet vote?

for the same reason the effort was stopped to allow the military to vote via the internet...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/01/21/internet.voting/index.html

with the secuity problems only a identification system could be used and the dems have halted any effort for a national ID card... because it would halt the dem plan of "vote early and vote often"..

He inserted his national ID card (a smartcard) into a PCMCIA card reader in his laptop. This allowed him to authenticate to an official government web site where he could then cast his vote.

so with out a verifiable national ID card ,the system is a security risk..

I don't know that we need more people to vote after some of the interviews of voters that I heard - had no flipping idea of where their candidate stood or even who his running mate was.... We don't need MORE voters, we need INFORMED voters. If anything, the process should be made harder, not easier, so the sheep can be weeded out and only the serious make the effort.

Voting can't be done by internet.

Too many black voters would claim "Disenfranchisement" because they don't have computers at home.

Then the Dems would have us spend BILLIONS to buy them home computers, only to find out that Shaniquala and Donatarrius didn't know how to work it and voted for the wrong guy......................

Voting is a privilege to those that keep their nose clean and follow the laws/rules. It's not a "Right". There must be some effort put forth to vote, or it will lose it's individuality and uniqueness.

Our founding fathers did not grant voting as an inalienable "Right".

What a stupid reply. Do you have a voting machine at home??? NO....

I plainly said let it be ANOTHER OPTION for people. Go to the local library, lots of places have public computers.

You are so ' black phobic' and first I thought it was something you picked up just to cause a stir because I thought you had better sense.....but now for the last few days you're really letting your sheet show
