Iran Strike?

Yesterday I was shocked with the comments Obama made regarding Israel, I loved the speech Netenyahu gave to the UN though. It made me wonder what we would do if Israeli bombers flew across Iraqi air space, all this rhetoric made me think we could possibly shoot them down. Then this report came out today about this new facility in Iran that we've been watching. Now it looks to me like we may be building a case for a strike, quite possibly soon.

Why Mideast war imminent
Corsi's latest book explains 'Why Israel Can't Wait'

WND senior staff writer Jerome Corsi, the No. 1 best-selling author of "The Obama Nation" and "Unfit for Command," has a new book out today explaining why a Mideast war is imminent.

But don't go running to the bookstore to find it.

"Why Israel Can't Wait: The Coming War Between Israel and Iran" is not that kind of book – at least not yet.

Beginning today, the title is exclusively available as an e-book. If you've got a Kindle, you can get it at Amazon right now. Other e-book formats will soon follow – as well as a more traditional bound book in several weeks.

The reason for the unorthodox release of a book by a best-selling non-fiction author is because of the explosive and timely material it covers.

Corsi recently spent time in Israel meeting with top security officials and came away persuaded that a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities is all but certain – soon.

(Story continues below)

That's the urgent message of "Why Israel Can't Wait."

Of course, the new Israeli government headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeatedly has declared that a primary foreign policy objective is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons capability.

That's because, as Corsi points out, Israel is a "one-bomb state" – just one nuclear weapon, even a relatively low-yield bomb of the type the United States dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki in World War II, would destroy the modern Jewish state as we know it today.

Meanwhile, the Barack Obama administration has repeatedly declared the intention of following up on the campaign promise to negotiate directly with Iran. This represents a fundamental policy shift from the Bush administration's efforts to apply international sanctions through the United Nations in an effort to force Iran to quit enriching uranium. Consistently, Iran has insisted upon the nation's right as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty to pursue the "full fuel cycle" – code words, Corsi says, for Iran's determination to advance uranium enrichment technology in Iran under Iranian control.

In recent months, top Iranian government and military figures have issued warnings that the time is getting short, such that Iran might well have the capability to develop and deliver at least one nuclear weapon by the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010.

At the same time, the international community has expressed doubt that the Iranian government will make any serious concessions on their nuclear program.

In press conferences and speeches, Obama has openly acknowledged the U.S. government now believes Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program.

An Israeli first-strike on Iran's nuclear facilities becomes increasingly likely to the extent Israel feels isolated from the world community and concludes there is no chance the Obama administration will ever be able to induce Iran to stop enriching uranium, regardless how seriously the president intends to push direct negotiations as a strategy.

"We have already seen two wars launched by Israel against terrorist surrogates financed and supported by Iran: the 2006 war against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the 2008 war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip," says Corsi. "Now, a war between Israel and Iran is on the near horizon, possibly fated to occur before the end of 2009."

Corsi is the author of the WND Books release "Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians," as well as co-author of "Showdown With Nuclear Iran." Those books have suddenly become more timely than ever.

Order "Why Israel Can't Wait" exclusively for your Kindle from Amazon today.

Saw some military on some fox show today that said the second nuke site complicates things for Israel to strike Iran. Can not remember all the reasons but acted like this would hurt Israels ability to now strike.

I saw the same, recently. The second site is bunkered too deep underground. Israel doesn't have the capability to render it useless to Iran.

The United States does, though.

And if they strike the one site they can get to all it may do is provoke things. If they can not be 100% succesful in their strike then it may only make things worse.

Really touchy issue now if the U.S. will not help in the attack. And we all know Obama would never do that! He will be soft and one day a dirty bomb or worse will come out of Iran and kill thousands of Americans because he was weak!

A+ and Buckeye, you are assuming Israel won't use a nuke themselves to get rid of the problem?

Don't think they would go that far at this point. Maybe if they have some of them nuke headed bunker busters, but not sure if they have them or not? If I was Obama I would make sure they had some of them for the Deep underground plant.

I am making that assumption. Once the nuke card has been played, I fear, all bets are off. There are other countries who would welcome the chance to retaliate on Iran's behalf, even if Israel just used a cute little tactical nuke. What they need is a few bunker busters about the size of a VW. I wonder where they could get a few of those?

Would a nuke even be effective if it didn't penetrate underground?

Israel did request to purchase the "bunker busters" back in 2008, not sure if they got them.

Israel slated to buy US smart bombs
By YAAKOV KATZ

The US Department of Defense has notified Congress of a potential sale to Israel of 1,000 smart bombs capable of penetrating underground bunkers, which would likely be used in the event of a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

snip

In its recommendation to Congress, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency wrote that Israel's strategic position was "vital to the United States' interests throughout the Middle East."

"It is vital to the US national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability. This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives," the statement read.

I don't think I'd want to carry my lunch pail to the elevator, to find out.

WASHINGTON - April 27, 2005 The Bush administration has authorized the sale of as many as 100 large bunker-buster bombs to Israel.

The GBU-28 bombs can be dropped from Israel’s American-made F-15 fighters.

July 24, 2006 WASHINGTON — The United States has approved an Israeli request for "accelerated deliveries" of precision-guided air munitions to Israel.

During the Second Lebanon War, Israel reportedly received an emergency shipment of bunker-buster missiles from the US to use against underground Hizbullah facilities.

I doubt the GBU 28 s enough ..and not sure how much damage a few hundred would do.. so just maybe we can send a few of the new GBU-57A/B or Massive Ordnance Penetrator, bunker busters over on the stealth B2a Stealth bomber at about the same time as the Israeli strike.

The Pentagon is accelerating by three years plans for a super bunker buster, the GBU-57A/B or Massive Ordnance Penetrator or MOP, a powerful new bomb aimed squarely at the underground nuclear facilities of Iran and North Korea.

Do you think Obama is pro-Israel?

Maybe it is all a ruse, but he hasn't shown that he is against Iran yet.

He knew about this nuclear plant before he took office. Fought against sanctions, "it's for energy purposes"

and now is worried about it?

Doesn't hold mustard.

I doubt Obama will sell them much of anything, hopefully they can get it done with what they have.

If I was Israel I would tell Iran we are going to nuke you before you ever get it. Done deal if you do not quit now we will be sending our nukes over before you get yours. Don't believe us then keep working on it!

Heard a commentator on a news program the other night, saying, "nothing will end Iran's intentions, only delay them"

Isn't that the point? Always/consistently delay.

But this thing of delaying with diplomatic discussions is working only too well.

We delayed with China/N. Korea.

Who are we going to delay with next? Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil

Diplomatic discussions/sanctions, is delaying alright. But to who's advantage?

Israel's Air & Missile Forces Could Wipe out Iran's Nuclear Sites

DEBKA-Net-Weekly Exclusive Updated by DEBKAfile

May 17, 2009

The detailed report compiled by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) in Washington last month, complete with graphs and diagrams, has been reprinted in thousands of copies in Tehran. It is compulsory reading for its intelligence and Revolutionary Guards personnel because the Study on a Possible Israeli Strike on Iran's Nuclear Development Facilities concludes that the Jewish state has all the resources necessary for a successful strike.

When asked recently, Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint US Chiefs of Staff, agreed with this estimate. This week, president Shimon Peres and prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu both said that if diplomacy failed to halt Iran's nuclear activities, Israel would be left with no option other than the military one. And Tuesday, April 14, the New York Times quoted an Israeli official as saying that Jerusalem would give the Obama administration until late 2009 to stop Iran's uranium enrichment projects; after that, Israel will be forced to act.

Tehran responded with a complaint to the UN Security Council demanding that Israel be condemned for "its threats against a sovereign state."

For the past three years, US military and intelligence sources have used attributed and leaked assessments to the American media to emphasize that such an operation is beyond Israel's capabilities because of the nuclear facilities' wide distribution across Iran. At best, they maintained, the Israeli Air Force might knock out a few Iranian nuclear installations, but only enough to put Iran's nuclear drive temporarily on hold.

The CSIS paper refutes this assessment and maintains there is no need to destroy dozens or hundreds of sites; the destruction of seven to nine targets would be enough to cripple the Iranian program, and lists them as follows:

1. Lashkar A'bad, site of secret uranium enrichment plants in the north near the Turkish border.

2. Tehranb, for the central laboratory for developing atomic armaments as well as more uranium enrichment facilities.

3. Arak, in central Iran, where a heavy water plant is under construction to manufacture plutonium for weapons.

4. Isfahan, in central Iran, near which a small research reactor and a cluster of laboratories for uranium enrichment, centrifuges and weapons development, are situated.

5. Natanz, the main center for uranium enrichment.

6. Ardekan, at the southern tip of Iran, where more uranium enrichment facilities are located.

7. Saghand, Iran's main uranium mining region.

8. Bushehr, on the Persian Gulf shore, Iran's biggest nuclear reactor built by Russia.

9. Gachin, near the Strait of Hormuz, the site of more uranium mines and enrichment facilities.

Complicated tables set forth an array of technical details showing how many PG bombs Israeli Air Force F16I or F15F bomber-fighter planes can carry, how much fuel is needed to reach their Iranian targets, and at what stage of their return journey they would need to refuel.

This think tank finds Israel has enough aircraft as well as the necessary intelligence and electronic resources for the task - contrary to previous estimates.

The authors propose three attack routes for a potential Israeli operation against Iran: an eastern route over Saudi Arabia; a central route over Iraq, and a northern route over Turkey, Syria and northern Iraqi Kurdistan. They point to the third as Israel's best option in view of the superiority of its electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.

This is the first time a detailed and accurate description of these capabilities, and a description of how they were put to use in the Israeli raid on the North Korean-built plutonium reactor in Dar az-Zawr, Syria, on September, 2007, has ever been published

What they really need to do is contract with King Hitter, they could use their best post driver to put that missile nice and deep before it's detonated.

Isn’t it possible that events look like they are leading up to the War of Gog and Magog but that the war won’t actually happen for hundreds or thousands of years?

God could certainly forestall the fulfillment of this prophecy for some time until he, in his sovereignty, is ready to move. But He will not postpone it for hundreds or thousands of years. We know this because of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:32-34: “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place.” In other words, when we see certain events happening, we can know that the Rapture and the Second Coming are imminent.

So what are “all these things” that we should be watching for?

Jesus described the signs in detail in Matthew 24 and Luke 21: the rise of false prophets and false messiahs, wars and rumors of wars, revolutions, famines, earthquakes, persecution of believers, the spread of the gospel, and the rebirth of the State of Israel (described as a “fig tree” in the Jewish Scriptures6).

Today, for the first time in two thousand years, we are seeing all of these signs come true, and the rebirth of Israel is the most dramatic sign of them all. We can, therefore, have confidence that Jesus’ return is closer than ever. What’s more, we can be confident that our generation will not pass away before we see this remarkable event occur. No other generation in history has been able to say that, but we now can. It is true that Jesus cautions us not to speculate on the exact day and hour of his return. But we are encouraged to watch current events closely and know when the clock is running out.

In this regard, I often think of the words of Gandalf from the last film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King. As events unfold and the clouds of war are brewing, Gandalf says, “The board is set. The pieces are moving.” As I write this, I would say the board is almost set, and God is putting the pieces in place for the final drama to begin.

By U.S. estimates, Iran is one to five years away from having nuclear weapons capability, although U.S. intelligence also believes that Iranian leaders have not yet made the decision to build a weapon.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,556260,00.htmlThis was from the report about the long range test....Im sorry but who said this?
The decision to build a nuke was made LONG before they started building the underground site.
