It is still Winter.

Well, we have a good old fashioned winter blow going here again this morning in Southern Ontario. Not much snow falling, but the loose stuff from the past few days is whipping around making visibility almost zero most of the time. Schools are closed again.

The temperature is forecast to drop to -26C again tonite. I've had enough of this for a while again.

I guess everything balances out. We had a warm, wet December and almost a green Christmas. Then January started out balmy and bright. But by mid-January, we found out that we can still get winter and it has not let up much since then.

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Well Old Ma Nature is teasing us too-- Yesterday was beautiful sunshine, geese flying north everywhere and 50 degrees, then today Mrs. Greg forgot to shut the door and they say we are getting "a touch of arctic blast"....Dreery and downright chilly out there. Temp was only 14 at 6AM...Supposed to only get to about 30...

I had to feed early- get my feed pickup into the shop to see if they can figure out the surging and failure to idle right problems- D*mn computers...D*mn Dodges...

But they say this cool is only supposed to last one day- then back in the 40's and 50's for highs- 20's for lows...Just perfect to get some of this snow and ice gone for calving...I think some of the partnership cows start calving the end of the week- checked them this morning and see nothing new....

Well I spoke too soon about no fresh snow. About 2 minutes after I made the post, it just let loose and it looks like someone pulled a white sheet around the house.

The wind is howling and the snow is going horizontal. I think someone up in Michigan or Minnesota left more than just a door open. I hate when those guys up north-west of us dump their cold on us!

I'll bet that a lot of you north-western American ranchers don't realize that Southern Ontario is way south of you guys. Pull up a map of Can./U.S.A. and you will see that I live well below a big chunk of the U.S.

SO SHUT YOUR FREAKIN FREEZER DOOR!!!!

At least I may have got one birthday present-- I think the shop got my pickup problem fixed....I was pretty sure what was wrong- because I had it happen a couple years ago, too...Had a hydraulic line break on the bale bed next to the pump on the engine-- that gets a fine film of hydraulic fluid into the air intake system- and with these computerized fuel injected vehicles it screws up the idle....

I had taken the air cleaner off- and the air intake line apart and cleaned everything out- put in new air cleaner--ran some sea foam thru the gas hoping to clean up the throttle housing and injectors-- still had problems...

But my buddy at the shop put it on his computer which told him it was in the air mixture and that some little flapper in the throttle housing was sticking....Sprayed it down good with some gook cleaner, like the computer told him- let it set a half hour- disconnected/reconnected the battery so the computer could reset--fired it up and it runs great...
COMPUTERS- you either love them or hate them..... :?

Still fogged in here at noon and dreary- but at least my day looks a little brighter.... :)

Sunny and just about 40 here todayt.. Not bad, still a bit below normal but at least we didn't freeze sorting off some calves... Daughter had one of her goats have her first set of kids this year, triplits.. Mom is kind if poor at mothering so I might have some housemats for a while.. groan.

Well it has stopped snowing and the wind is starting to let up. Our kids are likely staying where ever they are stranded - at work, with other family members - this storm came in quickly and caught a lot of people off guard. The county and provincial plows were all pulled off the roads around noon.

With the banks we had before this storm, I think there will be some pretty narrow roads once the plows bust them open again. And then the problem of stranded vehicles clogging the roads!

Supposed to get really cold for the next couple of days and then an Alberta Clipper coming in at the end of the week!!

Just what we need . . . :(

It's getting pretty dreary hear too. Seems like it hasn't been warmer than -25 at night for a month. I wouldn't really care but I haven't seen that lightbulb in the sky for more than a few minutes at a time for ages. That's really unusual up here, usually winters are the sunniest time of year. And Chinooks..... what happened to them? Normally we get several per winter. Haven't seen water run since December. Hmph. :?

You must be near or in the Peace country. Its been pretty cold and crappy there for awhile. :(
I'm just a little southwest of you and our temps have been around +6 to +8C (43 to 46F) for the past few days. The snow is slowly melting but there is lots to melt yet. There's water running down the roads now :D :D , but lots of ice in the yard too.

Heard, however, that the upper midwest is getting slammed with another arctic front!!! Keep warm, my friends...bundle up and snuggle in!!!

Dreary day here.. No snow or anything but the sun is having a heck of a time poking through the clouds... Bit of a breeze too so it isn't all that comfy outside but better than it was 3 weeks ago.. Lots better and it will be better still in three weeks.

Well today is just as beautiful kind of day as yesterday was nasty.

Clear, blue skies, cold air and no wind. The snow is sparkling and crunching crisply underfoot - it kind of resonates across the surface with each footstep.

You folks down south don't know what you are missing . . . 8)

Tomorrow, we are to be back into real winter. :x

I'm still aways west of PG. Its gorgeous and sunny here today. The temp at the moment is +10C (50F) and climbing!! :D :D :D . Got my windows a doors open for some much needed sunshine and fresh air. :D :D
I'd be happier if all this crappy snow was all gone though.

South of BL. There is some very nice country out here. Patiently (well not so patient) waiting till the snow goes so I can get some good view pics off my deck.

Thanks, but......Nooooo Thanks!!!
I've had all the cold weather I want this winter. Hopefully we are done with the coldest part. We'll still probably get the normal cold snap on Easter weekend.
