years ago, the debit card was sold as a way to cut bank administration and counter costs..
the claim was,.. you could have 24-7 access to your money and the bank saved by not having to lift a finger to get it to you..
now that the banks found a way to charge you for their doing almost nothing, they have bullied congress into believing they would lose money if they don't charge you more for doing less...
well,.. I stopped using my debit card unless I have to, I get three free transactions a month, and no charge on credit transactions..
and if I need a larger amount, I go to the bank and use paper,..
by knowing the fee structure, I use it for my convenience, not theirs..
