I sure do like that fence in your 'calf' picture. Wish we could build a fence like that outta our pine trees. But they just don't last. One year, and the bugs have eat em to the point that they fall apart. I've asked for years if there is somethin that they can be treated with to keep the bugs away, and no one ever has an answer.
Mr Lilly's grandpa usta treat fence posts in a vat of used motor oil........wish he was here today so I could ask him about that.

And I wish I had the funds to build some pipe corrals. :D I would guess if you could get the bark off the logs you could "paint" them with used oil. The longest lasting fences are made of fire-killed timber, second longest are cut in mid-witer when the sap is down and then a strip peeled off of two sides of the log. Pretty labour intensive but the first 20-30 years are nearly maintainence free if constructed right. Another major point is putting lots of "worm" into it.

62? Man, I'd be half inclined to come down your way, you ole texican rascal, and share a nip on the back porch but I'm afraid that this ole canucklehead would have a heatstroke just sittin' on the chair doin' nothing with that kind of heat wave going on! :wink:

Looks like the cows are doing well. Sounds like you are hard on stuff! :wink: Try going in any gear than high and see if you can take a little better care of things! :roll: My criminy turbo!
