January?

Today we bangs vaccinated a few heifers and we couldn't have found a nicer day...You'd never have known it was January...Temp got to near 50 with light winds- and half our snow disappeared....Tomorrow is supposed to be the same with a little more wind (chinook?) and we may not have any snow after then.....
Hard to believe its 3AM on the 3rd of January in northeast Montana and my thermometer is showing 42 degrees....ABOVE

But the long range says we could get our normal season low middle of January weather-- possibly temps in the 10-20 Below range by the middle of the month....

I never checked until just now, but mine says 44. Beat you by 2.

Pretty nice huh? It was 46 degrees here at 6 AM.

Oldtimer, you ever heard the expression that the first liar doesn't have a chance? lol. You have to tell a good story to beat Jinglebob and I.

The other day when talking to the Marine, he wanted me to send him some of those handwarmers that you put in your pocket cause they are all cold and they don't want to wear gloves. It was only 38 in Bagdad and 44 here, go figure, must be global warming, no wait, if it is getting way below normal there, above normal here, does that not even out to zero?

Yesterday was another beautiful day-- temps near 50...I spent most the day at a funeral of an old friend-- 71 years old- kind of a blessing as he was another altzheimers victim- but meningitis got him before he got too bad.....

Cooled down a little last night and rained-- everything a little icy first thing this morning but now the temp is back up to 34...
BUT
The Weather boys are predicting we aren't out of winter weather yet...Next week don't sound as nice....

IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE REINFORCING SHOTS OF ARCTIC AIR FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY. MANY OF THE MODELS/ENSEMBLES BRING DOWN -25C OR COLDER AIR INTO THE AREA BY THURSDAY MORNING. THIS IS THE TYPE OF PATTERN THAT COULD EASILY LEAD TO LOW TEMPERATURES OF 20 TO 30 BELOW WITH HIGHS REMAINING WELL BELOW ZERO FOR LATE IN THE WEEK.
