Japan rejects U.S. request for eliminating age limit on beef imports
According to Japanese news reports, Japanese agriculture minister Toshikatsu Matsuoka rejected a U.S. request to eliminate a cattle age limit on beef imports from the United States at a meeting with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns on Wednesday. Johanns asked Matsuoka to accept an expected decision by the World Organization for Animal Health, known as the OIE, to allow the United States to export beef irrespective of cattle age, the officials said. Matsuoka was quoted as answering that Japan has considered beef import conditions in line with its own scientific procedures, indicating the OIE decision would not automatically lead Japan to change the conditions

Wonder if the court ruling on Creekstone's ability to test after June 1 has any bearing on this announcement?

Has anyone heard if the USDA has decided to appeal the decision?

I don't think they will because of the current "Food Contamination" fiascos going on at present, i.e. "Melamine", "Peanut Butter", "Spinach E-Coli", etc. But would like to know for sure.

Bio Rad stocks have been rising slightly. Up $5 since the Creekstone announcement...........................
