After all the Canada Day fun it is time to get back to work. That reminds me, Happy Birthday to those of you who celebrate tomorrow on the 4th.

BMR might know this rancher, Mount Sentinel Ranch main buildings.

You know I'm not sure. Next time I talk to Francis I will ask. Jimmy (Detroit) hurt my hearing as a youth.

Mine too.

And your "Jimmy" comment brought a story to mind. In my former life, I had a 404 Timberjack log skidder with a 453 2-stroke-joke, as they were fondly referred to, with only a spark arrester on the straight pipe. Even with a helmet with ear muffs, it was still kinda loud.

Well we were logging a piece of hardwood at the back of an old guy's farm and he just loved sitting there watching the operation and listening to that Jimmy singing.

"I always liked those screaming Jenny's", he said. grinning from ear to ear as the skidder roared by dragging another skidfull of hard maple.

Later on I recounted his words to the guy I contracted to and asked him if he ever heard tell of a "screaming jenny".

"Wellll", he says kinda slow, "I guess it depends on where you'd pinch her . . ."

You know what, BMr, that happened within 10 miles of where your folks came from, about halfway between Lanes and a tiny hamlet called Kingsbridge. There was a public school on the corner of the farm but I can't remember the name of the school - it might have been Brookside Public School, but I'm not sure. It was a newer eight room country public school.

And I can't remember the farmer's name either. He was older and retired at the time, 1982, so he would have been close to your parents' age. I'll scratch my head a while today and see if I can recall his name. It would be interesting to see if your folks might have known him.
