It's hard to capture the true windchills and temps that we all have had this last week..but I've seen some photo's that make me shiver from the cold..so here's my version...

Days of Frost and Fog

A67Blizzard_edited-1.jpg

Imagine -36 windchill....(Texans will have to pretend..lol j/k)

A68Blowing-Snowdrift_edited.jpg

Now imagine 55mph winds to go along with that windchill....

This is the result after a few days of miserable weather..ice and more ice!

A74Frozen-Fish_edited-1.jpg

This big guy has been living in the horse tank for years...The weather and Ice finally got him...

A69Cakeline_edited-1.jpg

Hightlight of their day..getting cake...

A73Cold-Bunny_edited-1.jpg

Meditating in a rare sunny day..lol

Berry-Falls2_edited-1.jpg

A day of warmer temps brings this little waterfall back to life..

Niobrara-River_edited-1.jpg

Just think in 4 months the Niobrara River will be full of tourists...

Thanks Jassy, you definately capture the cold with those photos. There is one good thing about our area, when it is bitter cold it is rarely windy.

Had to grab a blanket before I could finish looking at your pictures. . . You captured the cold quite well. Those cows, that fishberg - they all speak of serious chillin'.

Your right Jassy. I can't begin to imagine temps that low. And all the preparations ya'll have to make to deal with that kind of weather would be mind boggling down here.

Well taken pics! They really capture "cold"!!!!

LOL @ cajun shrimp. Ya'll I fed her cajun shrimp....then sent her home with the spices to do them herself......she didn't ask how much to put....and I didn't think to tell her how much. She got em HOT!!!!!

But Jassy....when I make em...your lips will burn after ya eat em. So in cold weather like you've had at least you could thaw out ya lips :D

I got a phone call from my buddy who owns a ranch at Valentine just the other day he wanted to know how much daylight we were getting compared to down there-I think we figured your getting maybe an hour more. The best thing about those storms is when they're over-they are awesome to hunt in in November if you can tough it out you can walk right up to deer and moose in the bush.

NR, I sure won't be going out in that cold weather looking for any deer in the bush. It's bad enough that the ones in my yard just look insulted when I pound on a window not 5 feet from their noses as they are eating my shrubs and spruce trees.

Had an email from a relative in south Mississippi telling how they are suffering from the cold there. Water mains breaking and creating icy streets which people can't figure out how to drive on, for one thing. She thinks it would be easier to go without electric power than without water and is praying her water pipes will survive. Whole 'nother set of problems for those who 'never' get cold weather when it does happen!
