Just a Thought

If we have discovered a gene that predisposes cattle to BSE, wouldn't it make sense to keep those cattle out of the US? So why shouldn't we insist that all cattle and meat entering the US be genetically profiled? USDA spent billions of our dollars on equipment to do this. It seems like a good place to put it to use.

Show us where the money was spent and how this job could be done. I think you have are more than a little optomistic about what can and can not be done. While there at it we could test all of ours and dispose of the carriers  I am sure that everyone on this board would be glad to have there cattle tested and disposed of using this state of the art testing that we spent billions to develop

Is there any reason that it wouldn't be more appropriate to start the genetic profiling on AMERICAN cattle say in Alabama and Texas? Heck do 'em all as the last I heard the US had finally fessed up and admitted to having BSE as well.

If, note I said if, we have discovered a gene that predisposes cattle to the prion diseases, this will be the next step both in the US and Canada.
