Just another day in paradise.

I hope you all are enjoying your winter weather out there. I'm not.

We were up and percolating once again by 5AM with our youngest, J.B., off to the dairy farm to help ensure the continued security of the world’s milk supply, our other sons the electricians, J.P. and the J.Mer, getting ready to head off to pull and twist yet more wires and the neighbor getting cussed out AGAIN for blowing the lane when there is no snow in it. Our kids get called by their initials because it's more personal than numbers.

Oh I forgot, there IS a drift in front of the barn but the neighbor never blows IT so I have to kick my way through it every morning with a pail of corn in each hand whilst mentioning his name in some rather unsanctified terms.

Oh well today I’m gonna warm things up and fire him and do it myself after this. It’s been costing me almost $100 a week to get him so far this winter and I’d hate to have to declare bankruptcy because I blew my account over a bit of snow (or a lot) . . .

Besides there is no feeling in the known world which will match the invigorating sensation of snow trickling down the nape of one’s neck right after jumping out of a toasty bed and out under a spruce branch that suddenly decided to welcome any passerby with the release of its crystalline load of frozen wake-up call. Gratis!

It never ceases to puzzle me how that if each snowflake is indeed unique, how they can combine into such uniformity in their ability to produce the inevitable shock that invariably results in the shortening and scrunching of the human’s upper length of vertebrae? Every time?

Well enough of pondering the unsolvable and off to tackle a job which I have occasionally mastered before - but not lately – conquer a cup of coffee with the boys in town.

Wish me luck!
