This is so funny I think I could cry...This is the same Agency that wants to gather/control/have access to all the records of all the animals in the US thru the mandatory ID program...All I can see is a one stop shopping spot for terrorists, ecoterrorists, and animal rights radicals...
They can't keep the data on thier own employees secure- what would guarantee the data input by the individual producer

USDA laptop with sensitive data stolen at meat plant

by Pete Hisey on 7/19/2006 for Meatingplace.com

A laptop and data printouts were stolen from a USDA employee's car, which was parked at a meat plant in Wellington, Kan., USDA reported.

Ed Loyd, an agency spokesman, told the Associated Press that the laptop and printout were returned to the meat plant, but that the bag they had been in had been rummaged through. The agency is investigating.

The laptop contained personal data about 350 USDA employees and contractors involved in the Agricultural Marketing Service's meat grading programs nationwide. Last month, a hacker accessed data about 26,000 USDA employees, but evidently didn't download any of the information.
