for starters, the Super Bowl was turned into a lesson in black history. how many commercials were aimed at the black community?? if there were a commercial promoting white descendants of the Mayflower passengers, there would be hell to pay!
gay parades, mexican parades, anti war marches, abortion rights marches, black power marches, all going on, but get a group of white boys and everybody cries racism.
well, I think they push it too much. and my gripe is with ANYONE using a hyphenated American term to describe them self. if you live here, you are an AMERICAN. there is no African - American or Hispanic - American. I don't run all over calling myself a German/Irish - American so why can't these bastards just conform and be happy?kolanuraven said:I live in the " deep Dark South" as is commonly said of my State and you're the only one I've heard even mention it!!!
So if I'm NOT hearing it to the extreme levels HERE....then you're just wanting to whine!!
No body cries ' race' on St Paddy's Day do they? Not that I've ever heard and you can't get a whiter celebration than that!!

One thing, and probably the ONLY THING, I agree with you about is the hyphens in names of origin. If we all did that we'd have 2 lines of geographic origin for each person on the planet.
In fact most of my friends here, some life long friends, who are either black, hispanic or whatever also think the hyphens connected to race/origin are silly.
In the real world there are only a few who make a big deal out of it.....like YOU!
