Just Got Back From a Tea Party

Great crowd, lots of enthusiasm. Was talking with a Captol policeman and we were trying to predict the crowd number, we both agreed that it was around 10,000.

The big subject was Gov't Spending. Speaker after speaker hammered home the words of Jefferson and other founding father's.

Will put up pictures here later.

Oh by the way, the policeman has been working at the "State House" for over 22 years and said that today was the largest crowd protest he has ever seen there.

This will snowball............write it down...............

In the words of one speaker today, the "Secession" movement started here, the "Civil Rights" movement started here, and the next U.S. Revolution will start here. The crowd went wild........................................

Almost forgot........There were no terrorists in attendance..........

Me before my sign broke in the wind.. :)

there was a short break in the weather.. 38, freezing rain/sleet..a strong wind off the Harbor, no parking.. (police blocked off the parking lot?) and it still drew a small crowd on the harbor..

not bad for a protest that was supposed to be canceled..

I have to chuckle- for the last 3-4 years as I complained about "drunken sailor spending" and "generational genocide" as GW thru money down a Sand Pit building the George W Bush Bridge in Baghdad- built the biggest bureaucracy of any Administration--along with predicting he would run our economy into ruin- I was chastised- called UnAmerican, UnPatriotic, a Liar, and everything else by the rightwingernuts on this board...

At least now some it is being spent on Americans (Mikes neighbors) and building America- not for the Halliburtons to throw around in cost plus contracts subcontracted to some Yemeni company to build highways in the sand- or appeasement money to every Mullah and Shitie on the streetcorner of Kirkuk....

So--Now it is the "IN" thing of the right movement to complain/protest about overspending ...    :p

Not for you though, now you flipped and support Obama's spending. So the question is were you ever really against spending or were you just a kool aid drinker.

Besides you lie once again, because many, many conservatives on here spoke out against Bush's spending. There are a whole other list of reasons why you have been chastised, your speaking out on spending was not one of them! Personally I did not vote for McCain or Obama due to them both voting for the first bail out money, and if Bush could run again I would not vote for him either.

So quit your lying and crybabieness and lets here you fight against Obama who has spent not only more than Bush, but more than all Presidents combined. Ssssshhh if you did not like Bush spending how could you like Obama's?

“[T]he British theory held that Englishmen must always remain Englishmen, even though they should emigrate to foreign lands, and that the power of Parliament, to which they were subject in the old home, followed them to the new one.”

Does this not get to the heart of the matter, that the Colonists were doing nothing more than demanding liberty to have a say in their own affairs, and that such say would reside in the political bodies that reflected themselves? While they were initially loyal to the king (just as we remain loyal to the Constitution), they were asking for no more than what they perceived as their rights as Englishmen.

Is it any wonder that the states demanded a Bill of Rights before ratifying the Constitution and that the 10th of those first amendments addressed this very topic?

Taxes are convenient whipping boy, but there is more at stake than a few extra dollars in people’s pockets, as important as property rights are. It is a matter of the right to self-determination. It is the right to make my own decisions without impinging the rights of others. When the nation of Israel demanded a king, they were warned that the king would do more than pile on burdensome taxes. He would conscript the young men into his service. He would confiscate land, he would take the best people and force them to work for him. God was not happy with their willingness to give up liberty. In short they would become where some want to take us today, which is a loss of liberty and a shift of autonomy to a central authority.

So, folks, don’t let the media redefine us, our motives, and our love for the liberty our forefathers intended us to have. The stakes are too high for that.

You're right OT, if Bush had stayed out of Afghanistan and Iraq, we would be spending more money at home rebuilding more sites like the twin towers.

OT, "So--Now it is the "IN" thing of the right movement to complain/protest about overspending ..."

I asked your comrade Kolo this question, and she avoided it like the plague, so I'll ask you; Where do we get all this money that Obama is spending and what effect is it going to have on the economy when we have to pay it back?

At the rate Zer0 and his rubber stamp Congress is spending, there won't be anything left to spend. In fact, we have the largest deficit in history right now.

The national debt is at an all time high. Approved and voted through by Democrats.

Do you know the meaning of "UNSUSTAINABLE"? :???:

They won't.

They can't risk us, their biggest customer in many areas, to go TOTALLY bust.

If we don't buy all that junk at the Dollar Store....who will?

OT don't you think this so called "sand pile" also produced quite a few job for workers known as soldiers, as well as our military contractors. Now we're talking major layoffs at these same places.

Do you think that might be why they are backing away from buying Tbills at present, sales to the US are down? Economy is weak?

Doesn't the value of that debt that they hold go down with Inflation?
