Ranchers.net
He was all alone---just him,a horse and a dog
keep'n warm by the fire---as he sat on a log
wish'n he had a friend---he could depend on and trust
as he made his cattle drive---thru the soapweed and dust
the sounds of nature---oft' he would hear
the howl of a yote---or the bleet of a deer
as he prepared his bed---to sleep under the stars
he thought of Jesus---the hands and the scars
then a voice from the heavens---began to speak
I am a friend---of the lonely and weak
you can talk to me---while out on the trail
and when you have trouble---i have payed your bail
you can follow me---as we make this drive
back to the ranch---thru the cactus I am alive
to hear your prayers---to cover your back
as you,the horse and the dog---bring up the slack
