talk about being lit up like a Christmas Tree with all of the various winter storm warnings, blizzard watches, blizzard warnings, etc.

Here, it's only supposed to get warm today and probably melt away the snow that's on the ground here :(

Hope everyone has a safe & warm weekend. My wife is going to be baking today, so it won't be long before the sweet smell of freshly baked candy fills the house 8)

I was going to go home this weekend and my folks called last night saying the local weather there was calling for 3-5 inches of blowing snow starting this afternoon. :cry2: Supposed to continue through Sunday and here there are talking of wind chills way way below zero.

We haven't picked up much snow during the night- and the snow now is light- but its blowing about 25 mph out of the NE with gusts to 40 (I see south of Malta over 50  )-howled all night- so not much for drifts yet altho what snow there is, is blowing around...Temp is dropping- down to 9 degrees...Snow and wind both supposed to pick up today...

I've been waiting for the sun to come out to see where the cows were- and decide if I should haul some bales in and just sit out behind the windbreaks (can't roll out as it will blow away)...But I see those tough old gals are still all out grazing...

I was watching down the creek in the spotting scope as my cousins cows were heading for the windbreaks on a dead run....I need to call him and tell him he needs some of those tough little black cows instead of those big old namby pamby reds

Pretty good dump here in Southern Alberta. The wind rearranged the snow scape pretty good. OT I watched my bred heifers huddle behind the shelter until about ten minutes ago. If they had been black I suppose that they never would have thought there might be a chance of a feed source coming to them. They finally realized the food is out there and went back to grazing. Sure glad I didn't blink. Mid December and the first cold day of the season. I hope winter is about over!! :)

 AMEN-- but I think we're wishing for a lot...

Didn't get but a skiff of snow til about 9AM- and now its coming down horizontally- visibility about 20-30 yards at times....Temp is really dropping- was 17 about 6AM-- now at noon its 2 BELOW with about 30-40 mph winds still howling...Predicting 15-20 below tonight and 30-35 below for tommorrow night....BRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Biggest share of roads in the state are emergency travel only....

Old cows finally called it quits grazing when the temp started dropping and the snow got heavier...Now it looks like they are all in coulees or willows-- or behind some of the windbreaks in the corral....

Only thing good about this kind of storm is that it is the type that will fill the coulees with snow for runoff...

it was thirty four degrees at five thirty this morning then about six the north wind hit like a freight train and the temp started dropping its now zero with about a forty mph wind and visibility less than fifty feet at times. Got all the stock to as much shelter as there is on these flats and now i'm trying to warm back up. Sure wished I could have moved the herd south for the winter.

Must be time to trade in for a newer model

My wife does that for me since I bought her one of those remote starters for her new pickup last Christmas...When she goes out to go to work- she fires mine up for me.....I'm too cheap to buy a remote starter for myself...

I don't know how many different types of cookie's the wife has baked today, I just stay out of her way and she knows that I don't have a sweet tooth to begin with

It's been near 50 here today, but that cold front is going to come crashing through here about mid-day tomorrow.

Weather boys are saying we got 8 inches of snow today-but it must all be drifted in the coulees and around the buildings as most everything is pretty bare..
Good news is they say the snow is ending here and moving east- Bad news is they say the real cold is coming...Predicting 40 Below for tomorrow night...And now they say it may get above zero on Wednesday, just before the Canucks share with us another arctic front and more sub zero cold for the rest of the week :(

Temp right now is 12 Below with 20-30 mph North winds and a chill factor of 38 Below...

WELL CLOSE THE DOOR BECAUSE IT'S STARTING HERE TONIGHT. We're down to single digit temps and a wind and it's not supposed to get above zero tomorrow at all. Low tomorrow night is predicted to be -24.

the daughter is "house sitting" for some wealthy folks in Thompson Falls and she said they had over a half foot of the white stuff by 6 last night and was still coming down...a few hours later, it hit us!! Had to travel a small "hill" to get the 12 year old from a friends house and visibility was less than ZERO and the roads were nasty....poor Malibu almost got high centered driving down the road...temp was -5 and the wind is HOWLING!!! still blowing and colder than all get out tonight!!

Has anyone been on the Interstate 15 in Montana today? we're supposed to be leaving for Alberta in the morning, but are wondering if we should wait a day?

Heres the site to check...Looks like certain stretches are Severe Driving Conditions (the old emergency travel only designation)...I heard this morning on the radio that there were quite a few folks stranded in Shelby as the roads were too bad to go any further south toward Great Falls.....
