It was apparent a long time ago that the Bush administration was using its powers for political purposes and not for the good of the country.

Karl Rove probably engineered it.

Bush should not have people in the administration that would abuse power in this way and the buck really stops on his desk.

As I said before, this administration seems to put loyalty over competence.

It does not serve the country well. It serves Bush's self interest.

I see these things as two distinct and separate things. When you are the president, you should always put the country before yourself. To not do so shows lack of character and absence of qulifications for the job.

It is what did Nixon in.

Again....notice that no true dyed in the wool Rep's that normally tear each of us a ' new one' on every turn.......they have not responded to his thread.

I think that says the bigger question..... " What pink elephant in the room??"

The real question is why did the cia send an incompetant to Africa? This deal is a cia coup attempt on the Bush administration. There is no other believable lie as to why they'd send a nonop to Africa to investigate a Bush claim about UK intel that UK stands behind.

Nooooo...the real question was the question I posted on this thread. You're trying to do what I get accused of.....changing the subject!!

Better quit that....it seems to be a LIBERAL trait!!!

ok you be concerned with the minutia of when something becomes declassified, certainly there is no national interest at stake here, only obsurd wrangling over details.

Now a coup attempt on the duely elected US government is something that concerns me.

I guess we'll disagree about what's important here. The gauntlet orchestrated by the CIA is a thing of beauty in a vile sort of way.

So Republican Porter Goss tried to stage a coup huh? Maybe the repub.s were trying to take over themselves.

Too much of a conspiracy theory for me, Brad.

Rove and Libby bowed to political tactics that Bush admonished. Then Bush found out who did it and then forgave them because it was his own men.

Get real, Brad.

Let's not forget this:

"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," Bush told reporters at an impromptu news conference during a fund-raising stop in Chicago, Illinois. "If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.
"I welcome the investigation. I am absolutely confident the Justice Department will do a good job.
"I want to know the truth," the president continued. "Leaks of classified information are bad things."
He added that he did not know of "anybody in my administration who leaked classified information."

We know now, of course, that he, himself, authorized leaks. Caught in another lie.

Then when Rove's name came up in the investigation, he changed his tune to this:

"President Bush said Monday that if anyone on his staff committed a crime in the CIA-leak case, that person will "no longer work in my administration." His statement represented a shift from a previous comment, when he said that he would fire anyone shown to have leaked information that exposed the identity of a CIA officer."

I didn't see the press conference, but I read that reporters laughed in his face when he did this little tapdance.

Or that Bush personally awarded retiring CIA Director George Tenent the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
