Angus Cattle Shower posted about the saw guard and treated lumber.

I read a post MIKE C posted on CT one time and it said that burning treated lumber left deadly ashes. It said that there was enough poison in two teaspoons of the ash to kill a whole family.

i would also say the ash would be poisonous to our farm animals also.

It just came to my mind and if one person reads it and passes this along it might save a person or farm animal.

Articles like this are what I MISS about WHAT MIKE C would post 90 percent of his posts had information that was beneficial day in day out. The other 10 percent he posted was from the humor corner and I ENJOYED IT QUITE WELL ALSO.

I sure would like to see old Mike posting again.

PF they used to be but most treated lumber now is supposed to be safe. They have changed the chemical to treat them with, ask your supplier though just to be safe.

Old treated lumber ,fence post ,,, most definitely . Very poisonous and can be deadly.

Good post and reminder to all ,as I know people who have even burned old treated fence posts in their fireplace, how they are still alive today is beyond me, but some of the family get very very ill.

Mike gave some good information about that!! Although HD is absolutely correct as well, CCA (chromated copper arsenate) is still being used to treat lumber for industrial and marine applications. The treated lumber most of us see nowadays is treated with ACQ or CA which is pretty safe!

I appreciate the posts H.D. AND L.O. What is scary is for years and years navy men and boiler makers were told asbestos was safe coal miners were led to believe black lung was from smoking.

I hope the products you mention are safe for the consumer.

But industry and Government watch dogs neither one have a good track record. So one should ere on the side of caution when they are being told something by the ones guarding the chicken coop!

Then there was the tobacco industry manipulating the ingredients of cigarettes so as to make the consumer addicted.

I truly wish that the bottom line would take a back seat when it came to truth in manufacturing and everything else that effects the well being of humanity.

Thanks again.[/i][/b]

I still have cedar posts holding up fence from my Grandfather's era. The creosote posts from my Dad's era are just loosing their integrity. The arsenic post I put in are being replaced already. I used to get sick pounding the arsenic one's. The new one's so far seem OK. It is usually too late when we find out though.

Do you remember the story a few years back when the husband was accused of attempted murder. It turns out they were building a new log home together and the logs were treated with arsenic.

Mike is back posting, Pig Farmer. I was glad to see him.

There are some people that you wish you could meet Mike is one of them. I would like to see his cattle and to pick his brain a little bit over a glass of iced tea. Without the shine Mike!

One more thing that I have gleaned about MIKE over time is he is the same person. He don't play favorites nor attack unless attacked. I have never read A cheap shot by him rather a stance that backs up his beliefs all the while not giving crap unless its tossed his way.

I might have to schedule a trip down south next year an look him up.

Years ago, in the dustboll days, cattle from that there were shiped to fla to graze. With them cattle came them fever ticks. Long trenches were dug and brick lined at the end of a shute and the cattle gathered and run threw this vat with arsinic in the water to kill the ticks. I know where several of these dippin vats are and trees and such are growin in them. That was a long time ago so I figer the cemicals gone. In the 40's I think. In my daddy and grandaddys time. A man with the state had to over see the cattle bein dipped.

It's worth the trip my wife, children and myself spent a day and stayed over at Mikes a few years ago. You don't know what southern hospitality is until you've experienced it. Mike and Karen are very special people. And I'll garuantee the tea will have a kick..Mike is a very nice and honest person his wife's a bit nicer having to put up with him..
