Just the Facts Please

This thread is meant to portray actual, verifiable facts with short comments by ranchers. I am going to start it out with a link on the S&P 500 and solicit comments on how well the stockmarket has done during the Bush years or any other time period you would like to make a comment on.

If you go up to the top, you can adjust the time period on the graph. Pretty neat graphics.

Not much response to this post. But that's not a real surprise. This bunch is not very interested in facts that don't agree with their beliefs. Scary, huh? Or maybe pitiful.

My kid entered kindergarten this year and had to be "tested".

I thought the idea of testing was a good one.

You always learn something about the other person when you test them.

I don't think many 'real ranchers', who this site was originally for; know much about the S&P 500.

You've got the wrong group of people.

Feel free to go find them.

Faster, the S&P 500 is one of the main measures of how well our country's businesses are doing. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Russel 2000 are others.

When we do not have a responsible fiscal and monetary policy, all our businesses pay for it. That fact shows up with this chart and in the valuations of the stocks themselves.

Some people may be more interested in picking on the other side just for fun, but if you really want to know what is happening, you have to look at the facts. I simply made them more available.

Both of my "just the facts" posts show that the current republicans are acting more like the old democrats than the old republicans. When the actions of the people change, can most people see this, or are they stuck on the party name? If the party name stays the same but republicans turn into what was known as democrats, or vice versa, are we smart enough to realize it or do we just go along with it?

You must believe in something deeper than the label if you are to have any substance to your beliefs and they must be rooted in fact. If you do not, your ideas do not really count, they are just manipulated.

Texas had a few Congressmen who switched from being a democrat to a republican (which I supported) and so have a few other states. If you have no depth to your beliefs, you will not be able to ascertain if those were good moves or not. Neither Dems nor Republus. have a chokehold on "the truth". From what I have seen in my life, both have abused their positions of power when they had them. Should we not try to recognize this when it happens?

The S&P takes the " temp" of the country's economy to see if it's sick or not!!

If you have any type of portfolio you need to get acquainted with the S&P

nonothing, it has been over 25 years since I did technical analysis or more in depth analysis on individual stocks. You need to find a good broker and ask him/her.

The indexes I posted include the gains from dividends and also stock splits. Your individual stocks may not. These are just groups of stocks that allow you to see the general direction of the business markets as a whole in a pretty good graph.

Do you have a theory you want to pose?

If you want to know about dividend dates and such, there are some good articles on the web on them.

As for me, I take the random walk down wall street with some minor variations.

ty for trying to figure me out..LOL.....Its ok,i just noticed a dip by all stocks at that piont in time.In some cases it prompted buying and in others it would suggest movement either sidways or right out..I will research it more as the best way to have a healthy portfolio is to research, either the stocks(companies) themselves,or the broker you decide to trust your plan with.

Dang, I almost forgot about the dot.com foolishness of the 1990's and 9/11. Chart reminded me.

9/11 and the threat of another one! Think dirty bomb in manhatten and its a world wide recession/depression.
Were on the verge of WW# 3 all though I dont think its going to quite come to that but considering whats going on in the world and HIGH FUEL/ENERGY PRICES its a wonder things are not worse.
