Scores of rallies and vigils unfolded around the nation on Saturday, honoring 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and demanding a federal civil rights investigation into his death.

More than 100 cities were scheduled to hold “Justice for Trayvon" vigils, which the Rev. Al Sharpton announced Tuesday on the steps of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington. Almost a week after a jury acquitted George Zimmerman of murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Martin, the events in states including Alabama, North Carolina and Florida bore the semblance of a national movement. The National Action Network, Sharpton's civil rights organization, is hoping to build momentum for the filing of federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman.

Hundreds turned out for a noon rally in New York City, where Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, spoke to the crowd. Martin's father, Tracy Martin, attended a vigil in Miami.

In downtown Los Angeles, about 400 people marched down Spring Street to continue a demonstration that began outside the federal building. Rallies were also planned in Riverside, Palmdale, Sacramento, San Francisco and Oakland.

I heard reports of the New York City protest where Sharpton, Trayvon's mother, Jay Z and Beyoncé were there speaking. had 200 in attendance. REALLY when two of the most popular in the music world were there with the so called victim's own mother and Sharpton could not get more than 200 in NEW YORK CITY to come out.

100 protests and the largest city in the US couldn't turn out more than 200, says a lot about the support of Sharpton and his race baiting protests have. But I'm sure he will blame it on the weather was too hot or the short time frame to get these rallies organized since it has only been a week since George was found NOT GUILTY.

As far as Sybrina Fulton I feel sorry for her that she is being used to push an agenda that had nothing to do with the death of her son. Zimmerman did not use STAND YOUR GROUND to defend himself he used SELF DEFENSE and when they had witnesses claiming Trayvon was sitting on George assaulting him, it is clear to see his defense was JUSTIFIED. But as a grieving mother she is not willing to admit her son had a part in his own death hence you have her being used by those trying to push their agenda.

Edit to update-- They just said the New York rally grew to 500 and the Miami FL. rally where Trayvon's dad was had another 500 and LA having between 300 to 400. Great turn out for an issue they are trying to use to rip a racial whole into the country  I hope Obama looks at the turn out and realizes the MAJORITY of the country don't care about this story as the family demanded a trial and they got it and the JURY heard the evidence and decided in George's favor and found Trayvon was at least in part RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN DEATH THROUGH HIS OWN ACTIONS Whether the Racist Bailer believe it or not.

so far no national news organization has had the courage to look into martin's life, drug use, problems and fascination with fighting...

there is an extensive article on his usage of DMX (robitussin), mixed with a fruitie drink and candy to make Drank, Lean or sipin...

it is referred to as the poor-mans kids PCP...

Urban Dictionary: poor man's pcp
also called CCC, Triple C, Skittles, Robo, Poor Man's PCP. ... These terms are derived from the most commonly abused products, Robitussin and Coricidin.

and how the poor-mans pcp.. leads to a PCP like paranoid trip in which the tripper beats the crap out of his friends..

One friend beat the **** out of another tripper on it, thinking they were in a movie and it was fun.

lets see,.. you can be paranoid,.. tripping,.. violent,.. and don't feel pain... all on a fruitie drink, skittles, and a bit of over the counter DXM..

in other words.. Zimmerman was in the wrong place at the wrong time and confronted the wrong stoned young adult...

I would love to hear a bit more about why there are stories of this loving grieving mother kicking Trayvon out of her house at the age of 17. What did he do to deserve to be kicked to the curb if she truly believe he was a CHILD?

I think there is more to the reason for having his records kept out of evidence than his mother and father are willing to admit and if it was out the sympathy for their poor little boy with the angelic face would dry up.

One has to wonder how many teenagers that use this poor man's drug are sitting laughing at all those, that don't know what those two ingredients are used for, that are marching down the streets protesting with their little bags of skittles and cans of Ice Tea and posters claiming Trayvon was just an unarmed innocent Child trying to get home with a treat for his little bro? :?

BTW the star witness Rachal was on TV claiming that that innocent little CHILD was using weed at least twice a week.
Right after she made that comment I heard an expert on drug use say the problem with pot is the users don't realize that it stays in their system for up to 30 days and can still affect their actions.

So if he was using it twice a week would that not mean he was in a continuous state of being high and only peaking when he was smoking it?

The expert also said continued use can result in feelings of paranoia.

Gee Trayvon claimed he was Scare of a Creepy Azz White Cracka and was scare he might be a rapist or something and he was going home. :?

That is a big part of the STAR WITNESS"S testimony that is hard to believe since she also testified that Trayvon was back to where his father was staying yet a few minutes later he was sitting on Zimmerman's chest over a block away beating him up. Why would a kid that was scared of the guy following him turn around and go back once he was safely at home? If Zimmerman was truly following Trayvon like the race baiters are pushing to justify their claims then why wasn't the fight at the back door of the home where he told Rachal he was, why was it BACK DOWN THE STREET where George's car was? The Star Witness's story doesn't add up to a scare little boy running to the safety of his dad's girlfriend's home.

I saw pirs morgan commenting on a clip and was astonished by his smirk at her response...

this is a guy who wants guns banned in our country... smirking at her answer..

he had asked her what she thought of George Zimmerman...

her answer a real slow: "weak"...

this shows the lack of principles the liberals have... it is ok for her to call Zimmerman weak.. and smirk at the answer... yet not ok for US to protect ourselves...

if there was any justice in that situation,.. piers morgan would be on the wrong end of a [email protected]$$ and no one would come to his aid..

I can't stand that guy. What self respecting media person would play an interview of the juror that didn't have great things to say about his guest and then sit there and ask his guest, that comes across as a bit slow, what do you think of those comments.

What is she to say for crying out loud, the Juror didn't exactly think she was very smart, wasn't very flattering to her and was one of those that just found the guy accused of killing her boy friend innocent. He did it to her to see her reaction and did not care whether the comments hurt her feelings. I think he wanted to see her break and either start crying or lash out at the juror. Either way he had his story at her expense.
