spent 12 hours today, pickin, huskin, cookin, and canning sweet corn. we figured about 5000 ears of corn got ran through today...about 12 -15 of us.

we canned about 50 bushels, and bagged up about 130 bushels to be sold as corn on the cob.

big day! I am beat !

Since Obama wants us to 'share the wealth', I think you you should send
me some of your sweet corn (wealth) cuz I don't have any! :p

I bet you are beat. That sounds like work. But this winter, you
will really enjoy the vegetables of your labor. :)

Hoots were in town yesterday- and I stocked up on fresh picked green peas, baby potatoes, carrots, little onions, lettuce, etc.-- but they don't have any corn ready yet up here...

Amazing in the difference of growing seasons from here to there.

Lot's of folks here are already combining field corn and sweet corn is an April-May commodity.

Our first plantin of corn didn't make. Just a few kernels on each ear. So...yesterday pulled that up and took it out to the cows.

We have one more row in the garden that I've been practically floodin that looks like it's gonna make. Won't be a whole lot. But bettern nothin.

Now the peas.....I've got a big basket full that I picked yesterday, that I need to get busy on and shell. Done about half of em last night.....One shelf in my freezer is perdy much almost full of peas. Purple/pink eyes are dwindlin....but the cream peas are really makin big time.

Combining field corn?? Ours is less than shoulder high and not tasseled yet!!! Our early sweet corn is starting to tassel and all our stuff needs a drink real bad.
