What's going on in Kansas these days? Link below; my emphasis.

Three years ago, Mark Parkinson was chairman of the Kansas Republican Party. Tuesday, he became a Democrat. Today at a 9 a.m. rally at the University of Kansas’ Edwards Campus in Overland Park, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will name him her running mate for the November election.
The decision, confirmed by officials close to Sebelius, rocked the Kansas political establishment. Not only did Parkinson serve as GOP chairman, he now joins two other Johnson County Republicans who switched parties this year: District Attorney Paul Morrison, who is running for attorney general against Republican incumbent Phill Kline; and Cindy Neighbor, who is running for the 18th District House seat
.”

From what I read in other places, there seems to be a trend among established Republicans of switching to the Democratic Party. So what's going on there? Are people just getting smarter? :D

I hope Kansans are getting smarter indeed.

You know what you call an antiabortionist in Kansas? GOVERNER SEBELIUS. Even then Sebelius narrowly won because the Republican vote was evenly split between a Republican and another Republican. Even the Democrats in Kansas would identify Dis as disgusting liar.

well, Dis, don't let the flip flop of Republicans to Liberals get you so happy that you move out here....we do not need any more liberal tree hugging animal welfare psycho types out here. with Kansas City and Lawrence, we get more than we need.

I do not see Phil Kline getting beat. and with a base that sends Pat Roberts to Washington everytime, I doubt you will see Billery CLinton out here drumming up support.

if the guy wants to swap parties, fine, if he wants to be second fiddle to a woman, fine, if he wants to get off his butt and tell us his views, and why he switched, I will be glad to listen........

But I see no reason to vote for a man who WANTS to let a woman run his life......that really is no man at all!

thing that bothers me the most is the attention we are getting. I like it that Kansas is considered "fly-over country" because it keeps the loonies out!! now with this press, it will bring in more liberal dillholes and I really do not have enough ammunition or time at the moment to defend my property from all the liberal evil dooers of the world

  You sound a bit defensive, Brad. I've been doing some reading and it looks like the former head of the Kansas GOP is not the only Repulican leaving the party. There seems to be quite a few. From what I read the Democratic Governor is pretty popular and getting this well known, former Republican, to run as her Lt Governor will only make her stronger. If the only thing you can come up with against her is that she supports a woman's right to choose, you're probably going to be very unhappy on election night.

Dis, I agree with you finally !

I am 100% behind you on the womans right to choose.

when I am grilling steak, I want my woman to feel free to choose either baked or mashed taters, and choose either corn or baked beans......

but I would prefere she choose Budweiser on the beer, but as long as she is bringing it, who am I to bitch?

Dis you misunderstand. Gov Sebelius is ANTI abortion. She doesn't support anyone's choice to exterminate other people. My point is, to call her a Democrat is misleading. I'll likely vote for her. She went through the state's auto pool and cut it 1/3 and swapped off the extras. Froze hiring. Our last Gov, (graves) was much more liberal than Sebelius.

To argue, Kathlene Sebelius is a Democrat, Dean, Kerry, Hilary, Gore, et al are Democrats therefore Sebelius = them is analgous to God is good, pizza is good, therefore God is pizza.

You're right, I misunderstood. She's running as a Demorat; how can that be misleading? Unlike the Republicans, the Democratic Party embraces a lot of people, movements, and opinions. She doesn't seem to be changing parties to run for election like several Republicans, for example the former Kansas GOP Chairman.
