Kay Bailey Hutchison to Resign?

Hutchison Likely to Resign from the Senate in the Fall

Another piece of bad news for the Republicans is the long-rumored resignation of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) this fall. Apparently Hutchison, whose ambition to be governor of Texas is no secret, feels she can campaign better for governor if she doesn't have to be in D.C. to vote on pesky cloture motions all the time. If she resigns after September, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) will appoint a temporary replacement and then there will be a special election in May 2010. A Hutchison resignation will undoubtedly cause Houston mayor Bill White (D) to run for her seat and he has a decent chance of winning.

I seriously doubt that. The only way in hell that a Democrat will ever win a Senate seat in Texas is to distance himself/herself from the Democrat leadership in Washington.

If there's any way at all to tie a Democrat candidate in Texas to the Pelosi/Reid/Obama cartel, they've lost before they even get started.

Say what you want, Perry may be disliked but made friends when he backed the proponents of the states rights issue, said nothing about succession, And more or less told Washington it needed to stay out of Texas Issues. That is way more than Sen Hutchison has done. She may want to be Gov but better take a stand on some things rather than just think Sen in front of her name will get her traction

Why Kay Bailey wants to be governor beats me...other than she knows she's worn out her welcome in D.C.
