The pipeline would create jobs, and it would be an eventual aid in keeping necessary fuel prices lower than they will be otherwise. Some of the very folks that are against the pipeline don't seem to have any qualms about putting chemically synthesized inorganic fertilizer on their fields. If Obama and the greenie-weenies are against the pipeline, that is all the more reason for me to be for it.

I don't have no dog in this fight either...But I'm for it if they don't go through say like highway two and south from Dunning west to Alliance. And the reason why is because of wind erosion(sp) That's pretty fragile country..

We have pipelines running all over our place and they are check weekly for leaks. Its crazy people think just because its a pipeline oil just flows out of it and gets into the water.
Foreign oil is still foreign oil.Canada just as well build thier own refinery and port and the U.S. needs to develope its own energy sources.Pipelines do break and oil does spill and water does get ruined.Better safe than sorry.

It is foolish not to build the pipeline. If our country has to purchase foreign oil, why not buy it from a friend instead of an enemy. Its a simple decision. We should also build some new refineries in the U.S. and open up the country to drill for more oil and natural gas. The good Lord put it there to be used. They say that it is an enviromental decision. If they actually think China will refine it cleaner that the U.S. they are sadly mistaken.

Yes we need to develop our own energy from offshore to the fields found in the US including Alaska.

Your right Katrina about the erosion. I have toured the Trans Canada pipeline through the Great Sandhills in Saskatchewan. I think there is 4 lines running parallel put in over the years. They were fenced out and had crossings to let cattle get across for water. That was a mistake as it funneled the cattle into narrow channels a the sand eroded badly. Since then they have worked with producers and developed water ie pipelines to distribute the cattle.
They have learned alot since they put in the first line 50 years ago.

I can live with the oil because I can blend it in. The salt water is the problem with this line. There is about 1/2 acre that will not grow any grass at all in each place the spill took place so I have 1 and 1/2 acre that is barren and grows larger each year because the salt leaches out further and further. The oil spills and salt water is permanent when you have no agency to force the proper cleanup. Note we do not have an agency in Texas that forces this. We do have an agency but it does not do anything and this is why the federal government has taken over this regulation. Next spill that happensl a call to the EPA will be in order and these pipeline operators will have to cleanup. This line is a 3 inch line and the spills have caused a lot of damage.
The Keystone pipeline has not been stopped permanently but only put on hold to evaluate the new route through Nebraska.

Northern Border gas pipeline goes thru just north of my place...Put in in the early 80's....And even in some of our blowsand country- if you did not know the exact route or saw the signs they put up every once in awhile marking the pipeline- you would not be able to tell that its there....
In reclaiming the land Northern Border seeded the land back to its original state to where you wouldn't even know its there on the prairie- and on the farmland the farmers just farm over it like it isn't there either....

Personally I got a call from Harpers office asking for a donation in favor of the Gateway pipeline and I gave and told the caller it was because of Obama's rejection of XL. If Obama is going to side with the greenies then Harper needs to sidestep him and do all he can to protect and promote Canada to the rest of the world.
