Obama Spokesman Says 'Obama Ready to RULE on Day 1'

**Video Below the Fold**

The co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, appeared on Meet the Press this weekend and used, shall we say, an interesting word to described what she thinks Barack Obama will be doing in January when he's officially sworn into office. She told Tom Brokaw that Obama will be ready to "rule" on day one. It's a word that reflects the worst fears that people have for Obama the "arrogant," the "messiah," that imagines he's here to "rule" instead of govern.

Jarret told Brokaw that "given the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one."

Someone needs to get to Jarrett and inform her that American politicians are not Kings and do not "rule" from office. But if this is the attitude of Obama's transition team, what does The One himself imagine he is about to unleash? Could the fears that Obama thinks he is being anointed America's King be far off with this sort of talk flying about?

Talk about arrogant :???: Someone should have gotten to Bush and told him that American politicians are not Kings and do not "rule" from the office....

But remember all those precedents of "administrative rule" that King George set- and the Republican Congressmen refused to challenge or provide oversight to - now will be in the hands of Obama- with a precedent already set...
Some of the Bush Backslappers may have wished they'd payed a little more attention when it could come around to bite them in the butt now...
:wink:

Yep, all that presidential authority to infringe on our civil rights that the Bush Backers approved of when he was president will belong to Obama in a couple of months. I think we'll get quite a few laughs from these guys over the next few years. I do, though, honestly expect Obama to respect the Constitution and not push the boundries like Bush has.

I agree. This spokesman on Meet The Press was pretty arrogant on the "Rule" of Obama. The way it was said is inarguable....... :lol:

Your "self designated" coronation of Bush as King means nothing in the real world, or to those of us who know better than to take your jibber-jabber as anything else but mindless, sophomoric rhetoric.

President-elect Obama plans to use his executive powers to make an immediate impact when he takes office

This way he doesnt have to fight or wait on congress. He will be doing ALOT of executive orders so he can "RULE"

Then I would expect you or OT to call him for it when it happens..

Like you called Bush on it when he started listening on my phone calls? When he threw American citizens in jail without a warrant? Refused them an attorney? :roll:

I really don't care if Obama listens to your phone calls either..

or if Obama throws terrorists that happen to have fraudulently obtained citizenship in jail..

or if Obama refuses to give terrorists a free attorney.. or a trial, or any other "American right" that they don't deserve..

because I am consistent and will not change just because I can..

so now the ball is in your court.. quit dribbling on it and play..

Actually there's been a law on the books for ages that allows them to hold you for 96 hours without charges or anything else. Check with OT and see if Montana uses it?

Never heard of it...It doesn't exist under Montana law as a person detainted/arrested must be taken without unnecessary delay before the nearest and most accessible judge for an initial appearance. Even a person held under a protective custody or sanity type hold must be informed by a judge of why they are being held and of their rights under those laws...

Used to be they figured that the next working day was good enough (so if arrested on Friday night, they didn't have to see a judge until Monday)- but they changed that and anyone detained on an arrest or detention has to have to have an intial appearance or a telephonic probable cause hearing within 24 hours.....

46-7-101. Appearance of arrested person -- use of two-way electronic audio-video communication. (1) A person arrested, whether with or without a warrant, must be taken without unnecessary delay before the nearest and most accessible judge for an initial appearance.
(2) A defendant's initial appearance before a judge may, in the discretion of the court, be satisfied either by the defendant's physical appearance before the court or by two-way electronic audio-video communication. The audio-video communication must operate so that the defendant and the judge can see each other simultaneously and converse with each other and so that the defendant and his counsel, if any, can communicate privately. A judge may order a defendant's physical appearance in court for an initial appearance hearing.

46-7-102. Duty of court. (1) The judge shall inform the defendant:
(a) of the charge or charges against the defendant;
(b) of the defendant's right to counsel;
(c) of the defendant's right to have counsel assigned by a court of record in accordance with the provisions of 46-8-101;
(d) of the general circumstances under which the defendant may obtain pretrial release;
(e) of the defendant's right to refuse to make a statement and the fact that any statement made by the defendant may be offered in evidence at the defendant's trial;
(f) that conviction may result in the loss of various rights regarding firearms under state and federal law; and
(g) of the defendant's right to a judicial determination of whether probable cause exists if the charge is made by a complaint alleging the commission of a felony.
(2) The judge shall admit the defendant to bail as provided by law.
