Kit shows the way ahead

I agree with you on the Fear Sales Denny and I am not trying to perpetuate it. There are however several things in every one's area that could cause several weeks of service interruptions. Ice storms, Katrina's, Blizzards (I remember one year we watched the Stanly Cup last playoff series with generator power), Nuke meltdowns, and even some sort of Oil and Gas infrastructure interruption from what ever cause. It's not a bad idea to be somewhat prepared. To paraphrase Alan Nation speaking about his Katrina experience. "The Veneer of Society is very thin". So being prepared is never a bad thing.

That is a very true statement. Can you imagine if, for some unimaginable reason, truck traffic stopped for just 10 days. I think the reprecussions would be unbelievable.

I, too, see where Kit could be considered as peddling in fear, but I don't think that he is. I also don't see how that could help sell bulls, so maybe he is just telling us all how he genuinely feels. Same with Glenn Beck. Many accuse him of selling fear, although I feel that he is just truly alarmed at a lot of things. Before someone starts yelling at me to "put that in Political Bull", understand that Glenn Beck advocates stocking up on supplies also, and that is what the last few posts have been about. :D

Oh the supplies I agree with but 4 freezers full of frozen good's no. Canned foods, dry goods, live chickens ,beef and hogs and plenty of garden seeds. And chainsaw oil and gas oh yeah ammo for your weapons.

I've played that game with ice storms, I have a couple generators. It's only a temp fix, I wouldn't mind having getting PV cells and a battery bank, plus inverter.
The plan for a TEOTWAWKI/SHTF event where it doesn't look power is coming back any time soon is to start taking the beef from the freezer and converting it to beef jerky. I have a dehydrator that I could run off the generator, or I could learn to do it the old fashioned way.
