Boehner: 'I have a few knuckleheads in my conference'

By Peter Sullivan

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday said he has "a few knuckleheads" in his conference."

As a result, Boehner described his House majority as being a "paper majority."

“On any given day, 16 of my members decide they’re going to go this way, and all the sudden I have nothing,” he said. “You might notice I have a few knuckleheads in my conference.”

Boehner made the remarks to the International Franchise Association, warning of a politicized National Labor Relations Board, and said House Republicans were trying to counter overreaching agencies with oversight. But he added that he needs a bigger majority.

A group of the most conservative Republicans has frequently plagued the Speaker and upended plans for votes, most recently in July when GOP leaders were forced to pull a vote on their bill responding to thousands of unaccompanied children crossing the southern border.

In April, Boehner mocked some members of his conference for being reluctant to vote on immigration reform. "Here's the attitude: 'Ohhhh. Don't make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,' " he said.

Boehner added in his comments on Tuesday that "dealing with Democrats is one thing, dealing with the knuckleheads is another."

I couldn't describe the bunch that puts their oath to a character named Grover ahead of their oath to their country-- and their attitude that they don't have to do anything except read Dr. Suess and collect their paychecks- any better then Boehner did ...

Knucklheads !

Please explain how being against increasing taxes is ahead of the Constitutional Oath?

Taxes can increase automatically when more people go to work in business, not government jobs.

Buckwheat has already spent your Grandkids retirement, are you going for their kids savings too?

Are you as stupid as you seem?

OT, have you the capacity to ponder what the outrageous debt is doing to America's future? Do you know to whom pigs refers? Do you know what debt to GDP ratio among the pigs triggered massive austerity and where the US debt to GDP ratio is? You know the US has the the one debt level of whatever 17 tril that's way bad, and the real debt that's somewhere between 70 & 100 tril?

Anyone that cares about America's future knows norquist's pledge is merely to hold officials to what is rationally necessary in trying times. Thus your reasoning or slogan " putting pledge above country" is stupid or dishonest. The pledge is to EXACTLY put the well being of America's future above some effing bridge to enhance Harry's property values or whatever dirty deal pi$$es you off the most.

OT you voted for Ron Paul? He's a fantastic historical economist; if the US isn't already destroyed, we are on the precipice of ruin. It's always more politically fortuitous to play Santa clause, but honorable decent moral people must clean up after the binge. Yes it's easy to demogogue the clean up role especially given how federal education has selfservingly dummed down the electorate.

Btw, you know boehner is part of the problem that disregards the constitution and imperils America, right?

OT, when a father spends 15 minutes reading to his kids, that's a sign of a good dad.

When a scurvy piece of dung democrat suggests that the dad who read to his kids did nothing else all day? Well, I already said democrat. I have insufficient language to more strongly recognize dishonor than democrat.

OT, you should be ashamed, yes embarrassed, to say " nothing more than read dr sues" or whatever your quote. There is no honesty in that remark - only dishonor.

OT is all about half-truths, hyperbole, mis-direction, and outright lies. There's a good reason he's reviled here and on other sites he visits.

When Bush was president, EVERYTHING was his fault.....it was all in Bush's power to fix but he either wouldn't, or couldn't. Congress didn't seem to exist.

Then, in the runup to the election, the rotund idiot spent the better part of a year mocking McCain and other pub candidates and misrepresenting their positions and comments. When McCain was chosen as the pub candidate, the fatman searched for every piece of dirt he could on the man and completely ignored very troubling stories that real reporters were digging up on The One.

No, the fatman's mind was already made up. And even though he's really quite conservative you know, he was going to vote for the biggest big goverment liberal to ever run for office.

So, when it became apparent that the Annointed One would be the jackass candidate, all we heard from the fatman day in and day out was about the change the Messiah would bring. He wasn't Bush, he wasn't a king, he'd do the opposite of whatever Bush did, he'd end the wars, he'd close Gitmo, he'd restore the country's economy, he'd retore the faith and trust other countries had in the US before the Bush debacle, he'd restore our adherence to that precious Constitution, he'd be a uniter, not a divider, he'd work with Congress to bring about much needed change, light would shine down from the heavens, sea levels would drop, and the climate would be kind to mankind once again.

Okay, those last few claims are hyperbole on my part, but you get the picture.

Then, when his Messiah took office and followed Bush's war strategies and even expanded on them, started spending money like there was no tomorrow, insulted and alienated our allies, lost the confidence of leaders from around the globe, openly trampled the constitution, inflamed race relations, played golf instead of leading, flung the doors to the country wide open for undocumented democrates to enter at will, and ran the country like the king that OT supposedly despised, the fatman was at a loss for words.

Unfortunately for us, that slience lasted only a short while, and he shifted gears. Suddenly all the things that he hated about Bush as president, no longer mattered. Couldn't even bring himself to mention that precious Constitution. No, now everything is the fault of the do-nothing congress......nevermind that the Messiah's party controlled the White House, senate, and congress for his first couple of years. It's as though the president doesn't exist.

In short, OT's a tool.

Shutting down Congress by reading Dr. Suess or babbling whatever tripe is not the way to legislate... I would much rather see them working to reach a compromise agreement then earning their salary- than showing the country they can read Dr. Suess (altho when Bachmann did, there was some question if she understood the "big words  )...
Especially when the shutting down of Congress also shut down the country and cost the economy Billions $...

So apparently you don't believe in just riding for the brand like so many do ? Just blindly voting for someone because they have an (R) behind their name is not something you would do ?

Instead of someone like Boehner, who you claim is part of the problem, would you vote for a (D), an (L), or an (I) brand if you thought they could do better???...

One of the reasons I am extremely doubtful you will see another (R) in the White House is this split within the Republican Party- and the fact that the party as a whole has NO direction....

So when someone makes arguments you don't understand, you certainly can't refute, but you think you might disagree,......you call it tripe. Then you insinuate Bachman is stupid? Got it.
