I watch a program called Ag Day every morning and they profiled a town in central Texas today. They have had 1.5 inches of moisture since last September and just had their driest March on record. So yes I'd say it's looking pretty bleak down there.

On the east slope of the Rockies, we are real dry. We are about 1" behind on moisture for the year (since January). The western slope is getting snow on a regular basis. We get a foot or two of wind every day. It is suposed to gust to 45 today. Red flag warning on fire danger. No floods or earthquakes, so guess we are doing ok.

The Boer goats and Dorper sheep have spread throughout the southern states since they were imported, with the increasing droughts it might be time to look at African low maintenance cattle as well, along with Holistic management you should be able to cope with the longer drought periods, we had worse in my part of Matabeleland (in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe) but maintained a good level of grazing and browsing, and produced a much higher production/acre at a lower cost than our neighbours in Botswana and South Africa.

Last year the total percip was 19.08 and that was with 2 big snow events.
So far this year we have .94 BUT that doesnt tell the whole story....we have been having the past 4 days very high winds which draw the moisture out of everything/everyone.

Well I believe you got more than us and we are supposed to get around 36 inces or so. Don't think we've had 2 yet this year.

Been dry, is dry, and most likely going to stay that way.

When all this white stuff melts there should be some moisture released into the atmosphere. With any luck those that need it will recieve some.

Last rain I got was 1.7 inches on October 27th 2010. It is as bad as I've ever seen it but I am 41 so I guess a couple of years before I was born it was this bad. No measurable rain in 5 months sucks and is a drag on your emotions.
