I wish oregon was a tad closer to the north pole-I'd like to chek those calves out as they go along. The kids have five Lads and one 8020 in 4H this year and they look pretty good.

It looks like Ty will be going to the HighSchoolnational Finals in New Mexico so that will destroy my already slim travel budget. I'd sure like to get to Oregon too.
All the Lad and 8020 calves are out of first calvers. 255 is HH Advance 255M a Holden bull, Harrells own him, he's really throwing some nice cattle. 8020 is an old bull of Oxleys, produces really good females. I think he is in Lad's mothers pedigree.
Lad's mother is an 8020 granddaughter-I gathered up pretty much all the 8020 semen in Canada a few years back which was a fine stroke of business I think.
I am real impressed with the size of those calves for as old as they are and shouldn't need to worry about sticking Lad on my heifers. They calves look great Nicky, but I just haven't seen a good bunch of small birthweight Hereford calves since we quit messing with them.
I also have a friend of mine that is thinking of using Lad on black heifers to get some baldies.
Nicky and Northern, would you mind sending me some pictures to pass on to my friend. Pm me if you need my email to send them. I'm real impressed and I am sure with some pictures of the structure of those calves my buddy will be also.
I'm getting them on my 1st calf heifers in the black baldy version and they are quite vigorous at birth. They are small enough for 900# bred heifers to squirt them out unassisted.Good functional calves with a nice thick hair coat.I will use him a bit more again this spring.
I'm sure glad he's working as expected for everybody-Fraser's will be calving some daughters this spring-if they are anything like his mother they should be good functional cows.
